Merged: CJ Anderson Super Thread- Offer sheet decision today

It would be a dick move from Elway to leave the Dolphins waiting and decide to match on the final day.

The Bills didn't match Chris Hogan's deal with the Patriots - they let him go right away.

According to Peter King of TheMMQB.com, it’s not a lock that the Broncos simply won’t match, and let Anderson walk away to Miami.

The four-year, $18 million offer sheet is well beyond the $2.553 million tender the Broncos could have used to keep Anderson as an RFA (as no one would have given up a second-round pick and the money for a back who has yet to carry the ball 200 times in a season).

But while the Dolphins made the deal front-loaded to make it harder to match, the Broncos have also seen quite the exodus of players lately.

With potential big-ticket items such as Brock Osweiler and Malik Jackson elsewhere, the Broncos have the flexibility to match, even if it’s at a number far beyond what they could have or should have spent.

Money and contract wise they should let him walk, but Elway could be chapped of losing so many players he might try to take a stand here. They should let him go and get Foster or Morris and they'd be fine. They have always changed out RB's.

If they do match, Miami should pivot to Morris or Foster. Foster does not count against the comp formula either.

I think it is legit contemplation.

All true enough but t knew Jackson was gone before FA started and the extra $900,000 or so it would have taken to tender Anderson up to a second rounder wouldn't have been too much if they really wanted to keep him. To match now would look pretty bad.

Just checked out the Denver board and read some comments he comes to camp out of shape and overweight and that it takes him a while to get in shape and he has a hard time with staminia and thats why he rotated with Hillman.

Most think they will not match and its not that big of a deal.

Perhaps that's true. But also remember, when we traded Vontae we tried to see the positive side to it, and we said the same thing. We don't miss a top 5 CB at all

A possible scorned fan base isin't always the best place for proper prospective for sure.

Last year for CJ was night and day. Everyone remembers the second half of the year and the postseason where he tore it up, but that first half of the year was brutal. He averaged under 3 yards a carry with no TDs. Broncos fans were blaming it on him coming into camp out of shape back then too. It might be a scorned fanbase at this point and CJ may have been dealing with injury, but there's no getting around the reality that he really was **** awful to start last year.

The miami heat will knock him into shape real quick lol i think he'll come into camp motivated though. Gase has gotten on him before about his weight.

Kinda think Gase is very aware of CJ's idiosyncrasies........

Denver never "lowered" its offer. A fourth was always the offer. Michael Silver added,

@mattbarrows @MikeSilver Den probably lowered their offer due to having Sanchez on hand. No guarantee Kap can beat out Sanchez for starter.

What do you think of trading down again and drafting that RB from Georgia who ran a 4.31 40 at the combine? Or, is trading down even necessary? He might not even be available at #13.

I just saw a post from Bleacher Report on my Facebook feed about this kid Marshall, the aforementioned RB from Georgia.

From no one hyping him to thinking he will be gone by 13 is a huge stretch. I bet Elliot is the only first round back, and MAYBE henry. If you look around, that Marshall guy is projected as around a 5th. I'm sure he will shoot up a lot due to that 4.31 but I'd love to add that kind of speed late in the draft

Buried behind Gurly and Chubb. Gotta wonder, does UGA always get lucky with their RBs or is it the system? Kinda like Andy Reid and whatever QB he has. Just sayin.
