Merged: CJ Anderson Super Thread- Offer sheet decision today

I would love to get a back like cj. Everyone talks about Miller with break away speed but those are once in awhile type plays. This is the nfl and you need a guy like this who can grind away at tuff yardage. Cj does not go down easy just look at some of these runs.

The Broncos will NOT match for CJ Anderson. He will become a Dolphin at 2pm tomorrow per MY source.

I question the reliability of this source, but throwing it out there.

I think just about everyone believes they wont match. Denvers given 5 days so they might as well take it, its the smart move. Its tying up our money so if we are talking to the same free agents denver has the advantage.

The Broncos decided against placing a $2.553 million second-round tender on running back C.J. Anderson, and instead tendered him at an original round value of $1.67 million. This meant, essentially, that if anyone in the NFL wanted to sign Anderson for more than that, they'd be free to offer him something without fear of losing any draft picks. The Dolphins, who lost Lamar Miller to the Texans a day earlier, bit.

Miami's offer is meant to dissuade the Broncos from matching it. The deal is reportedly worth $18 million over four years, with $9.75 million in guarantees and a $4.5 million average per year. That's obviously a big jump from the $1.67 million value Denver wanted to pay their most effective rusher from the past two seasons, and the structure of Miami's offer makes it pretty unlikely that the Broncos will match it.

Troy Renck ‏@TroyRenck 35s36 seconds ago Deadline to match #Dolphins offer sheet to CJ is 2 pm Tuesday. Just talked to person in the know who said no decision has been made yet

They decided not to think about it until there was 18 hours left lol

If it's true that the Broncos are considering matching the offer, this is a very brave move by Elway. Most GM's need a few years before they admit to a mistake. Anderson is a very good back, and they still have the pieces to win now - Miller, Ware, Wolf, Williams + the secondary. But Denver will need a good run game in 2016. The QB, whether it's Sanchez or a new addition, won't play well enough without a run game. Failing to tender Anderson for a 2nd was a dumb move. Matching the offer still might be the right move, but he'll take **** for it. I think Anderson would be a really good get for Miami, so I'm hoping Elway saves face and looks somewhere else at RB.

God it will suck so bad if they match last dam minute..

Why? It is not like they have missed out on a slew of FA's. There are still some productive backs out there. James Starks, Alfred Morris, LeGarrette Blount, Ronnie Hillman, Arien Foster. Starks, Blount and Hillman all averaged for than 4 yards per rush. Quietly, those three RB's had really nice seasons.

After losing Miller, Anderson is a great pivot and I think he is better than those I listed, but the team can easily move on if Denver matches.
