Merged: CJ Anderson Super Thread- Offer sheet decision today

People still thumbs down if they disagree with your idea?

I really like the idea of bringing in Louis Vasquez. I haven't seem him as of late, but from 2011-2013 he was a borderline elite guard in this league. He has history with Coach Gase, and would not count against the compensatory formula as he was released. I expect us to land a 3 for Vernon and a 4 for Lamar.

To any CBA aficionados... would signing CJ (or any restricted free agent) count against the compensatory formula?

Do you think schematically he's a good fit? Sounded like he wasn't one for Kubiak in his ZBS. I'd be fine with Zane Beadles, he stays healthy. As long as he's cheap. I trust Gase on these guards, he's worked with Beadles, Vasquez, and the less often mentioned Patrick Omameh. If he doesn't bring any of them in, says a lot about them imo. I think we'll start seeing a little movement once the CJ situation is resolved. As for RFA's, they do not work into the formula. C.J. will have no adverse affect on what we get.

Yes and no. I think he's a good enough player (at least the last time I gave him a look) to where he can make it work. I don't think he's a long-term solution, but he can stop the bleeding. That's for sure. Thanks for the tidbit of RFA's.

I REALLY like these 4 offensive line prospects I keep bringing up. I think they have All-Pro/ Pro Bowl potential:
Cody Whitehair Kansas State OG
Joshua Garnett Stanford OG
Jack Conklin Michigan State OT (can make the switch easily)
Ryan Kelly Alabama C (has enough ballast and girth to play guard)

Not gonna get any arguments from me on Conklin or Whitehair. I think either would be solid picks in round 1 or 2 (if Whitehair gets there). Think those are plug and play starters. Concerns about Garnett, but need to watch him. Seems like there's some solid center-guard converts with Kelly and Martin.

The fact that denver has been totally quiet for this long makes me nervous

Denver would be making a financial mistake if they matched Anderson's deal. I seriously doubt Elway is content on rolling with Sanchez - they have to bring another QB into the mix, whether it's Kaepernick or someone else.

The Broncos are likely doing this out of spite more than anything else.

The NFL Players Association puts Denver's cap at 11 million. OverTheCap projects 12 million, SpoTrac projects 13 million. Regardless of those numbers, matching that deal leaves Denver with around 6 to 7 million counting Anderson's first year of the deal. The Dolphins structured this deal with the purpose of being able to absorb the first year - and leaving Denver unable to.

All good points so logic would say they probably wont match, however they could do it if they feel their not going to be away to pry one of those QB's away. They could also make other moves if need be down the road.

They could do it with the hope/plan of restructuring or cutting Clady if/when they get another QB.
