Merged: Davey or Couch

at this point its too late to bring anyone in. noones gonna learn this offense in time to help us. might as well settle in for another tough year, ride it out with who we got and draft a qb with our first. we also need to draft two offensive linemen next year

I disagree totally. By mid-season Couch would be up to speed and he could be starting. I'm not saying he'd be the solution for sure, but the fact he was a starter before and has been doing a lot of work on throwing mechanics while rehabbing makes him a very interesting prospect. Plus, playing for the Browns - we probably never saw his potential before his injury (and he played with that injury for a while). If he doesn't work out you lose nothing, you just don't resign him next season. And THEN you resort to drafting a QB in the first round next year.
I'd much rather see Couch work out, our chances of fielding a good team next season would be high if we picked up a couple O-line guys in the draft.

I disagree!
With F and F as our qb's, and without Ricky...what are our chances for the 4 first games of the season??
I say bring in Couch and have him learn the system, and by week 5 Couch could have had enough time to learn the system and Ricky would be back.

i dont care if its davey or couch but its NOT anyone we have now, make a move nick, i do like the idea of having one ready by week 5

Cleveland was trying to completely rebuild that team, and started from the ground up with Couch. Problem is Couch was THE ONLY THING that they had. No other talent, no other pieces to the puzzle.........NOTHING!!! I agree with the fact that he probably won't be ready or able to help us very much this season, but if we do draft a QB next year which everyone seems to want, then that QB isn't going to be ready NEXT SEASON. We're gonna need someone to play next year while we grom that rookie QB, and hey who knows, maybe we get Couch, he plays next year, and does GREAT. Then we got a very good situation on our hands like San Diego!!!!

The problem with preseason is neither one of our QB's has played a full game, nor has any of our starters. As a QB, you have to get into a rythem and obviously we haven't been able to do that. It takes time and reps. I'm not saying we don't need to upgrade our QB position, but it's still pretty early to tell if Ferrotte/Sage (I am writing off Feeley) can't be at least decent.

Well we can't blame the o-line for last night there was good protection and feely still found a way to throw a pick for a touchdown, enough is enough we just gonna be wasting a good reciever corps with these qb's what could Mc nabb do with our recievers? let's get these guys someone who get the ball to at least a simple out pattern, there's now way davey or couch could be any worse the the qb's we have now!

BOTH!!
We need to cut feeley and make room for both these LOW PRICE qb's that MUST have more potential than AJ, no qb on our current roster is the answer to our problems...and i know "we'll draft a qb in the offseason", and i agree, but i don't see saban just counting this season as a lost cause and that's what will happen if we don't make a move or two..soon...most of us pulled for aj at one time or another ,but it's just not there

By saying that Feeley has no potential, are you also aware the Gus has even less potential !! Look, AJ is not going to be cut, even if we picked up Couch and Rohan...Neither of those guys can help us this year and we can't cut AJ due to the cap hit...we have just over $1 m in cap space (according to one of the papers, I forget which one) and he will cost us $1.1 to cut him...

I am not convinced that AJ is better or worse than Gus, just that he is younger, has less starting experience and could improve. He did show improvement last year from his first action to his last game...even the AJ haters have to admit that...the problem is that either way, Gus is not the answer...He might be better for a few games, but then the old Gus will show up and we will see why he has been in the league 12 years and can't hold a starting job...he isn't worth it...But, he's not going to be cut either...

So, do you want to surely lose with Gus and get worse as the year goes on, or surely lose with AJ and perhaps, perhaps he'll get better as the season progresses...

If Saban doesn't want Davey, if he isn't out trying to get him, shouldn't we take his word for it? He coached the guy in college and his apparent lack of interest says a lot.

As for Couch, there's no way he could start early this season, but he's not as terrible a QB as some people are making him out to be. The problem is, we're not the only team interested in him and I don't think he'd make it into the starting job until too late in the season for it to be worth it in Saban's eyes.
