MERGED DEZ BRYANT: Must be Jeff Ireland's Fault

You also did say barring major injury. You think he had major injuries last season? I do, hence why I havent said anything about it.
He had a quad issue from week 1 at the Jets that bothered him maybe half the season IIRC, he missed 1-2 games over it but was fine by mideseason(he was on my fantasy squad so I kept tabs on the whole thing).

yeah but he wasn't 100 percent for a good while...he was giving revis hell before he got hurt in the 2nd half of that game...kids legit on the field...no doubt about it

Dez didn't "beat up" anybody. He hit his mother with a baseball cap and pulled her hair, she did not require any medical assistance and (despite Dez's issues) it was the first time he was actually arrested. Doing that to your mother is obviously not the right thing to do, but there are a ton of great NFL players who have done a lot worse. The loveable TV personality Michael Irvin stabbed a guy in the neck with a pair of scissors one time, but nobody seems to remember that.

More importantly you don't know all of the facts involved in this situation. Maybe Dez's mother is a nutty crackhead (she did spend time in jail for selling crack) and she attacked him while he was arguing with his step brother (which is when the incident occured) and Dez was defending himself. I think if Dez Bryant (6'2 220 beast) "beat up" a frail woman twice his age, she would require some medical attention... Just my opinion.
Now let's compare Bryant to Misi both on and off the field. Off the field Koa Misi was arrested for breaking a guy's face by punching him through a wooden door, while Bryant was arrested during a family skirmish where literally nobody was hurt... Both guys (arguably) made a dick move and they got busted for it, neither situation is the end of the world.
On the field the two players are not even comparable, to me (and most objective eyes) Misi is "Mising". The guy has barely shown the ability to be a fringe NFL starter at either OLB or DE, he doesn't have dynamic pass rush skills, and if he doesn't step up big this year he might not have an NFL job ever again. Dez Bryant, on the other hand has not been GREAT yet nor has he been a model citizen, but the kid is twenty ****ing three years old, and he already has a 928 yard (14.7 YPC) and 9 touchdown season under his belt while he was nursing an injury... Bad hammy I believe but I could be wrong. Just so you know, 9 TDS was tied for 4th in the league amongst receivers last year, the only thing that Misi was 4th best at last year was getting swalled up by offensive tackles, the guy is garbage.
In 2010 we could have stood pat (or traded down a little less) and picked Dez Bryant and Aaron Hernandez, who are both way better than Odrick and Misi. Our offense could potentially be sick right now if we had Bryant and Hernandez. Is Bryant great right now? No, but he could potentially be if he just grows up a little bit and stays healthy. Again, the kid is only 23 and he's flashed huge talent.

Maybe the moon is really made of green cheese. You obviously don't get this thread.

Have you ever dealt with drug addicts before?
I guarantee you that Dez went over to his mom's house and she was high as a kite. He's probably getting hounded for money from all ends, particularly from his mom, and he's got enough personal stress and debts of his own. The kid is 23 years old, he probably got into an argument with his mom, he probably said some **** that he shouldn't have said and she probably came at him in a crack induced rage.
Again, for the 5th time, when the cops arrived at the scene they saw NO CLEAR EVIDENCE OF an assault on Angela Bryant, so they didn't arrest him. Upon further investigation, Ms. Bryant reported that she had chest soreness from being shoved and the cops saw "minor bruising and scratches" so they decided to put a warrant out for Dez for a misdemeanor. He turned himself in immediately, and has yet to make a statement about the situation.
I don't understand what you people aren't getting about this. ANGELA BRYANT HAD NO SERIOUS INJURIES. This dude Crazy685 kept talking about "massive bruising" and "missing hair", but there are absolutely no reports of anything like that. I keep saying the same thing and I'm really not getting what the problem is, if Dez Bryant was to strike his frail cracked out mother in any type of serious fashion she would have been ****ED UP and the cops would have immediately thrown him in jail. Her injuries, bruising on the arm, sore wrists, pulled hair, are consistent with what a woman would sustain if she attacked a much larger man and he pushed her and grabbed her to get her to calm the **** down.
Again, it's all speculation at this point, but I think that the idea of the moon being made of green cheese is a TAD more ridiculous than the idea of a crackhead bugging out and attacking her son during a familial argument. Wouldn't ya say?

I didnt want to brag but I have never been wrong in picking eventual pro bowl players if allowed to do it two years after the draft.

Ireland Justified?

1. Dez Bryant continues to justify Jeff Ireland’s question.
You know the story by heart at this point: Back in the spring of 2010, during a pre-draft interview at the Dolphins’ facility, Ireland asked Bryant if his mother is, or was, a prostitute. This line of questioning not only offended Bryant, so the story goes, but was viewed as callous, arrogant and overly-intrusive by much of the NFL-viewing public.
Two years later, Ireland’s image still suffers from that incident, but his questioning looks more and more justified. Bryant, who had 928 receiving yards and nine touchdowns last year, is once again making more news off the field than on it

I never had a problem with the question, especially with the direction the conversation went. I have always felt that Ireland was crucified for this and did not really deserve to be. Bryant has been in the news a lot for off the field problems in his short career and seems to continually justify the concerns as to his character. I was just curious what everyone's thoughts on this were. If it was posted earlier sorry but just finished a eight night stretch at work and did not see it...

If you are going to pay a guy millions shouldn't you ask a lot of questions? Ireland is vindicated....Bryant is bad news.

In IRELAND we trust. He is free at last thank god almighty he is free at last..........

its not a question that should have been asked. At that point he must have know he was not drafting the man, the question was irrespectful.

:ponder:

Dez could have said "My mom needs help if I were drafted by you would the team help out" and Ireland could have responded which is what Jeff may have hoped would have happened - but he is vindicated even though he didn't need to be

Ireland should have asked:

Are you as dumb as a box of rocks as you appear to be?

Dez Bryant - WR - Cowboys

Source: Associated Press Jul 23 - 8:25 PM

The Associated Press reports Dez Bryant's mother doesn't want to press charges against her son following his alleged domestic violence incident. Bryant allegedly hit his mother in the face with a baseball hat and pulled her shirt and hair last Monday. DeSoto (TX) police have already decided to file a Class A misdemeanor family violence charge against Bryant, but it's unlikely the case would move forward without his mother's cooperation. Bryant's chances of drawing a suspension are dwindling.
