You don't have to hire the black guy, you just have to interview him. Maybe the next step in this diversity experiment will be to fine teams for not hiring blacks after interviewing them, I mean, come on you know the white owners don't really want to hire a black guy. Should we expect the Wine and caviar owner to hang out with the new coach and drink a bull? That's the only reason Saban was hired. Jimmy was hired so Wayne can hang out on his boat in the bahama's drinking (and watching) heiny's. Shula was hired because he was a good old boy, so was Wannstedt. It's ridiculous how the whitey's choose their kind all the time. And if Wayne did choose a black one, he'd immediately be called an "uncle tom" and shunned by his people.

I sure hope you are being sarcastic.

Once again I agree with you, Dol-Fan Dupree. The scariest one was atop the thread, thinking affirmative action had been outlawed and virtually rejoicing at the thought.

My dad is a sociology professor. I've read plenty of texts including recent studies. Anyone who thinks this was an issue of 25-50 years ago and not appropos today is sadly base ignorant. The media and therefore our impressions may have changed, the hiring practices have not.

I couldn't agree with you more.

I like to refer to it as "selective equality"

I get into it a lot with my g/f when she asked me to pull up the car and stuff like that.... then I pay for dinner. When we wake up in the morning, I have the same responsibility to cook breakfast as she does because she talks about equality.

Wheres that equality when the check comes at dinner?

Most women and minorities dont believe in complete equality, because they dont want some of the crap we haveto do. They all want "selective" equality. They dont want it all, just the good.

Very, very true.

all I know is reading these fun posts just increases your love for white people. You like to think that this would can get better and then you read some of the most ignorant posts.

and all i know is that special treatment for "minorities" is complete BS! may the best man win. what is so hard to understand about that.

Why, because you think that only minorities work hard labor jobs like a maintenance worker? I think you need to bend your mind back to reality also.

The picking cotton I have no comment and agree with and found slavery to be disguisted and appalling, but to think that only minorities work hard labor jobs like a maintenance worker is appalling.

haha this group is a joke. As someone said earlier if a black person was given a job, and we didnt interview a white canidate no one would be talking about this. It's the year 2005 and all i hear are minorities saying we need to put racism behind us. The only one trying to base stuff on race are the minorities. All universities let minorities in before whites. The wendys in my town ONLY hires blacks, and the owner is black. Conscidence? I think not, but it's never in the news. I just want all these minority people to shut up and face the facts. The vast majority of the population is not racist, and the only reason racism is still an issue is because of the minorities.

I could not agree more. Stop making everything a recist issue, and maybe racism will cease to exist!

May the best man win the job since when and why should people of color get a handicap? If the best man is black, hispanic, asian so be it. The only color that counts is "GREEN." What happened before the civil rights movement has nothing to do with todays generation. This BS needs to stop there is no outlaw of B.E.T Black Entertaint ment Television why not isn't that racist? If I had W.E.T I would be burned at the stake. It needs to stop its nothing but a cop out for black people sorry but it is. I know your grandparents where slaves but we weren't there masters leave us out. I'm sure if someone like Don Shula, Art Shell, Dennis Green, and Herman Edwards were out there as available coaches the no-brainer is to take Shula but you have to worry about this stupid rule when the other 3 know for a fact that its a lame duck interview like randy shannon did. I dont care if I owned the Miami Dolphins I put who is the best of the best on the field, and if they are all white to bad black people, or if they are all black to bad to or whatever cause I'm doing it to win and make money not to diversify the league that is already 70% black anyways. The league will diversify on its own no need to make rules. There is a reason you dont see black head coaches and owners they are just regular people who arent qualified enough yet since the majority of them are black they can make a big ordeal out of it. But the NBA being almost 80% black let God forbid something like this were to happen but about white people. Black people don't like baseball thats why the league is only 9% black I think. I'm not racist its just this bs with black this and black that is ******ed and and people need to realize we are in the year 2005 not 1805 yes racism does exist and always will but thats not what drives team to be great dynasties, championships, down to the wire finishes great games stuff like that is a mixture of all and the only ones who ever complain about this stupid **** is black people and its bs like we owe them something. You just go out there play your heart out your either good enough or your not. Yeah I'm gonna assemble my team of all white-guys cause I'm white or all black guys cause I'm black. Or majority either way you find talent and you keep it and mold it. Any player who complains about race is a "POS."

Because BET is geared toward African-American entertainment. It puts blacks at the forefront where many times other stations and especially primetime do not place "Black stars or television shows" at the forefront.

This is so true. I've donated to BET many times.

You believe the hiring pratices have not changed, so you believe that minorities are not being hired because of thier race? Or they are just not being hired. Just because you are a minority and not hired does not mean it was because of your race!!! That is where people that are minorites feel they deserve the job just because of thier race and that is wrong. Show me some statistics that show a person of minority getting passed over for a job that is better qualified than the job and they maybe I will see your point of view. Even then though not everything is based on qualifications, you may be the most qualified but you come to your interview late, not prepared for interview, dont answer some of the questions with the answer the employer is looking for. You cant just blame getting passed over for a job on race.

Oh yeah, Rodney King, the blubbering idiot that was on PCP. He's been arrested a bunch of times since that incident also, I think for drugs. maybe he didn't get beat hard enough. He was one tough mutha.

You can't be serious with that comment. He wasn't beat hard enough? Maybe someone should beat you like that. I am very tolerant when it comes to racial issues, but you have crossed a line. You wonder why minorities "cry" racism. It is because of stupid ignorant people like you that make stupid ignorant comments like this one.

I appreciate your input. This thread will be closed or moved shortly. However, since you felt the need to write- what do you think? Voice your opinion- you are among friends!!

I voiced my opinion back on page 3 or 4, whichever it was.. IMO, any team, business, group, whatever, should be allowed to interview who they want when they want for whatever they want, regardless of that person's color. I want the best person for the job interviewed for the job, I want every rock overturned to find the best man or woman for the job, regardless of color. Saying that, if I was a person of color, I would be offended at the thought that a team might interview me soley based on the color of my skin, if I have previous knowledge that they have someone else in mind to hire. Just as I said earlier, Randy Shannon is the PERFECT example! I applaud him! He told the Dolphins to screw off, when they called him, because he knew he was a "token" interview, and he said, "I'm not going to get the job, so why waste my time and gas to drive to Davie for an Interview of a Job I know I won't get?" <<< that's exactly what I mean.. Do I think that qualified people of color get overlooked, of course I do, but at the same time, why waste a lot of people's time when the outcome is obvious? I would do exactly what Randy Shannon did, tell a team to screw off if they called me for a job that I knew they had someone else in mind for, but just wanted to satisfy some rule.. there ya go, that's my opinion. not a black or white issue to me, but a respect issue.. and I think it's disrespectful to ask someone to be interviewed who had no shot at a job.. now if it's a wide open race as to who is getting the job.. if there is no clear cut candidate.. then sure.. like I said before.. turn over ever rock and stone to find the best candidate.. but if a team or business knows who it wants and that person is obviously qualified, then I have no problem with that..
