Merged: doctor says Williams' drug use is done./Jason Cole article

I've nothing to add except that it's ironic that this guy works in Grass Valley, CA.

I buy it, when one finds inner peace through teachings of yoga, the monks, or any of those ancient faiths one loses dependedncies on the things that use to matter to them. Now he still has dependencies and such on modern civilization but he has to use his "new found peace" to balance them. The bottom line is 1,000 yards and a bunch of TD's and I'll cheering both him and his astral body.

I really don't think that smoking pot was ever RW's main problem. I'm one of the people against his return, but you've never read a post from me bashing him for smoking pot. His problem is that he is a coward. He runs and hides from everything that scares him. He ran when the NFL caught him. He ran when he fathered children. He ran when he didn't like the way the team used him. He had so much power he could have dictated how they used him. But that would have involved leadership which scares him. Pot was just one of the things he used to hide.

I could care less honestly. He ran for 1853 yds smoking dope.

My feelings...Puff Ricky Puff!!

THAT'S WHAT PEOPLE DO WITH SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER!!!!

Calling him a coward is ignorant! It's like calling an Autistic person a coward for running and hiding from loud noises/strangers.

He runs from any responsibility not just social situations. I know we are raised in a society that always shifts the blame for everything, but his social anxiety disorder can't be used to explain away all of his cowardice.

I never understood... Why Lenny Kravitz? Bob Marley, sure. Lenny Kravitz? Ultra generic music from a guy who spent his career being trying to look like a bland mix of Jimi Hendrix and Prince?

I'd have more fun kicking it with Marley's corpse. :roflmao:

What Ricky Williams displays is CLASSIC symptoms of SAD. SAD does not pick and choose it's circumstances or things to not take "responsibility" on.

Classic SAD symptoms relate to social situations not to responsibility. Running away from the children you fathered is not classic. Niether is quitting on the team.

You are, however, missing the point of my original post. What I said was that the pot smoking was not the problem. It was only a symptom.

And my reasons for not wanting him back still exist regardless of the underlying cause. RW is unreliable. It could b/c of cowardice. It could be b/c of SAD. Who cares. I just know that from week to week as the team prepares for the next opponent there is a very strong chance that he'll decide to leave. At that point we'll have lost not only RW, but whatever player(s) we have to cut to make room for him and whatever FA(s) we had to forego to make room for his salary.

well I hope he is scared of the opposing team and runs to the end zone :D

It's as simple as this. If Ricky wants to change and start to become more mature and responsible, he has to get back on track. If he is really done using drugs and enters the NFL Substance abuse program (and enters it early to get back here in time for the beginning of Training Camp), than he's definitely headed in the right direction in my opinion. I'm sure he knows though, that he has a LONG way to go. But the best approach to take on this of me being a fan would be... "I'll believe it when I see it."

When did RW ever run away from his children, or be irresponsible in taking care of them??? This last court case was to simply see if he was the father, in which he never even contested. he automatically took responsibilty for the 4th child. It's been made known Ricky is not a dead beat dad.
