MERGED:does anyone else feel riped off/upset on this surtain deal?!?!

So, Patrick Surtain is not one of the top corners in the league and Philip Buchanan is?

Pat Surtain RIGHT NOW is better than Buchanan. But Pat Surtain in 2 years may NOT be better, due to his knee problems and age.

It doesn't matter to any GM in the league when Surtain has maybe 3 years left in him and Buchanan has 6-7 for much less money.

I must be forgetting that Surtain is a 35 year old corner without much left in the tank. It makes much more sense to keep 39 year old Junior Seau's lousy *** around than it is to get proper value for one of the top five corners in the NFL.

Sure it matters. Either we take a 2nd round pick. Or we end up keeping him and losing him and get NOTHING in return at seasons end.

What has more value. 2nd round pick or nothing?

Surtain in a Dolphins jersey sounds better to me. But what do I know?

I'm glad the trade happened for the simple fact it had to be done and we got value for him. Unlike some people who were dying to get rid of him for a 4th. :shakeno:

I'm happy about a 2nd rounder  .....but I'll really miss Mr. Pat SIR-TaN :shakeno:

Good luck #23!

NOPE!

Saban can only play the hand he was dealt. And in reality, Wanny has alot to do with us trading Surtain. He gave away all of our picks, he allowed our O-Line to be traded/walk away, which in return probably had something to due with Sticky Williams leaving, I SAID SOMETHING TO DUE WITH. Not to mention his crappy coaching...which led to last season's mess.

Damn, I got started on Wanny again. But alot of what we see today which we do not like has a lot to do with him.

Now that I'm done dumping on Wanny, Hell yes, I'll miss Surtain, he was a stud. But it's time to move on. And if Saban is truely going to be in the mold of Belicheck, then he's off to a good start. Now we will have to wait to see if he's able to "plug in" players, to replace the good one's that left. Not to mention partially re-build a team, all at the same time.

I'm going to have to learn to be patient.

IN a jersey for a year on a bad team reubulding then GONE next year with nothing in return.

Where this 2nd round pick could be a guy who is a starter for us for the next 5-7 years.

This was a wanny mistake, if he would have traded Madison and not signed him to that deal, we could have gottin rid of him and used money for surtain. Madison is untradable because of the cap hit. Wanny should have reversed this when he had the chance. Freaking butthead

Best insight I've read yet...you're correct my man.

I'll miss Pat...but it had to be done. I really believe in my heart Poole will be just as good as Pat after his injured knee, and Howard will be a good third option.

does anyone else feel riped off on this surtain deal?!?!

he was only 29 year old. he was better than madison and all we got was a second round pick. that f***ed up!!!!!

in my own opinion:D

You seem to be forgetting something you've been told repeatedly: that Surtain is 29 and has a degenerative knee condition. You also seem to be forgetting that he wanted and got a HUGE contract from KC, whereas Seau agreed to a very small contract in order to keep playing here.

Would you rather have a 4th round pick that they were offering? Or take the best offer which also so happened to be what Saban is looking for. I think it was a great move on Saban's part. 1.) For not giving in unlike quite a few people around here wanted to do, and just get rid of Surtain for the 4th. and 2.) Because with his way about going about it and stratedy, he ended up getting what he was asking for. Good move. I'm satisfied.

While we are giving away players, we might as well see if we can get a 3rd or a 4th round pick for Jason Taylor. He's more valuable than that, but we obviously don't care anything about the value of the player.
