MERGED:does anyone else feel riped off/upset on this surtain deal?!?!

Bottom line- can't pay one guy 10% of your cap. That's why we didn't get as much for him, he came with a big price tag of his own.

bottom line part 2 - if there was a better trade for him out there, coach saban would have taken it

Whenver someone brings up trading Madison, I just think to myself, "You're a Football Fan? Are you sure?"

The ramifications of trading Madison would kill the cap and if you think it was tough getting value for Surtain, imagine what teams would have offered for Madison?

This is a great move. Time to start putting our cap into impact offense where it belongs if you want to win in the NFL. Surtain will start down the steep slope to retirement starting THIS YEAR. I mean, get real people, he has BAD KNEES! I'm holding my breath that he passes the physical so the trade can go through to begin with!

We got ALL we could get for him. Replace him w/ a RB with that 2nd round pick, maybe it will be Arrington, who knows...

Surtain will disappoint in KC. He is on the steep downside this coming year, mark my words. I actually think we pulled a fast one over on Dick Vermeil.

This is the best possible deal that Miami could have gotten. All those "first rounder for Surtain" mongers will finally shut their pie holes now. This was as good as it was going to get for a 29 year old CB with 39 year old knees.

Well said Boomer.

While we are giving away players, we might as well see if we can get a 3rd or a 4th round pick for Jason Taylor. He's more valuable than that, but we obviously don't care anything about the value of the player.
Giving him away? No, giving him away would have been to do nothing at all. Giving him away would have been to watch him play one more season in a Dolphins uniform and then watch him sign with the highest bidder next season and then get nothing in return. You're telling me you'd rather have Surtain for only one more year and then get NO COMPENSATION than you would trade him now for a pick we desperately needed? I totally don't understand that logic. Get good comp for him leaving now or get NO COMP for him leaving a year from now, you chose getting nothing in return for him leaving.:shakeno:

I hate losing the guy I think is our best player. However, Saban is about the future and Surtains cap number wont work for us. I hope we land a quality DB somewhere.
We did, last year, when we drafted Will Poole!

It seems everyone is happy about losing Surtian, there was a reason he costed so much. Its because he's freakin good. A second round and swapping fifths sounds like a bad deal to me. Sabin couldn't even get one of the Chiefs players for him. Our secondry has gone from the best in the league to just another secondary. I'm wiggin out here, anyone else sad about losing him at all. Cap eater or not!:roflmao:

If you'd been paying attention for the last month or two you would have known that we were asking for a 2nd round pick the whole time. It shouldnt of come as a surprise. There was never talk of us getting players from them for him, so wig out all you want, we couldnt afford him and he only has a few years left.
