MERGED: Dolphins hire Lazor as new OC

Well he was saying it got unwatchable after Lazor left, so...

yeah and hes right about this year...i commented the o looked like it was written up on a napkin watching that crap...

i'm just hoping like hell it was the qb when lazor was there...cause reading this stuff is jogging my memory

I was browsing reddit and came across some more insight into his time at UVA:

One thing that people need to keep in mind when it comes to OCs is they tend to be everybody's favorite whipping boy on losing teams no matter what the real problems are, so the fact that he was still appreciated by some even with terrible QBs is a very good sign.

i was just told he had mike rocco as his qb the year he finished 3rd in the acc...well i can tell ya that qb sucked something awful so i guess it's possible he could end up working out for us...

i guess...i'm gonna get some of uvas old offensive concept stuff under him sent to me...

Definitely looking forward to that post.

Hope he brings a good OL coach with him. Turner should be the next to get canned.

I agree with what you stated that Lazor has a track record of helping QB's maximize their potential. McAdoo is harder to evaluate as Rodgers would succeed under any tutelage. And I am very glad that this hire was not affiliated with nepotism.

The problem with Kubiak is that he would be seeking head coaching positions next year, which is not in Tannehill's or the team's best interest. I know nothing about Shanahan's credentials, but my concern is that he has benefitted from his father's (declining) reputation.

I'm kind of glad we didn't get McAdoo, to be honest. He had no playcalling experience and I think Joe Philbin needs to get out of his comfort zone. Also, McAdoo to my knowledge has basically made his reputation on Aaron Rodgers. Lazor has made his reputation by coaxing good years out of Jason Campbell, Seneca Wallace, and Nick Foles.

My first preference would still have been Gary Kubiak but out of Shanahan, McAdoo and Lazor, Lazor is easily the most exciting of the other three. I know hoops doesn't like him, but I think his work at UVa is actually a positive. He improved production by trying to work with what he had.

A question I've asked myself lately, is it really Turner's fault the o-line was so bad? 99% of us on this forum complained about how ****ty the talent was that Ireland supplied for the o-line. Hell it's even been reported that Philbin knew at the beginning of TC that Martin couldn't handle the LT position and told Ireland to get a replacement and Ireland did nothing. So is it really Turner's fault that he couldn't turn chicken **** into chicken salad.

Can't wait to see hooops break down of his OC work in college, especially if they ran a lot of up tempo stuff. I like the fact that the production went up a lot when he got on board, its is a really good sign he has a good feel for gameplans and playcalling. With Sherman you couldn't look at any individual play and say it was a bad call but the overall ranking of the offense is evidence he was being outmatched by d-coordinators. And if Lazor is able to develop a good sneak that would be absolutely huge. Also the change of scenery might do Tannehill a lot of good, even though he's still young he's pretty much only known Mike Sherman.
