MERGED: Dolphins re-sign Soliai to 2 year deal

Jason La CanforaPaul Soliai's 2year deal in MIA includes $12M in new money and when coupled with '11 franchise tag totals $24M/3yrs w/$18M guar #freeagency

Considering how much interest there was in him, I think this is a pretty good contract. Two years so it's not too long or anything and maybe he took less money to say "thanks" in a way for making so much last year.
ok not AS bad as i thought it was going to be

Bravo Ireland. A absolute steal for Soliai.

He scares me. Seemed to be lazy unless contract years. I like him, but hope we didn't break the bank for him.

i think before i post, he doesn't deserve 12 million a season, get real, that's money you expend for a quarterback not sorry ass defensive tackle, but knowing ireland's love for cornefed lineman he just killed our cap.

wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Wow, 6-7 mil year with an option for a 3rd year...... Saweeeet.
Sounds like we're shopping smith too.

Looks like Gardener was 295 last time he played, per nfl.com. A quick google search has him as heavy as 330 or so during his stay with Miami, but it doesn't specify if that was his playing weight or if that was just the heaviest he weighed in at. Wilfork is listed at 325 and he plays DT in NE's 4-3 alignment without issues. I don't see why anyone would expect Soliai to have issues with it, especially considering how often he did so last year...

wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Yep, and a big double Wahhhhhhhhhhhhh. The cap, the cap. The cap money for what Manning? If he can still play he will be gone again in a year or two at most, then what? The team only had a couple of holes to fill and this front office made it worse instead of better so far. At least they didn't let Soliai get away.

Only counts 4mil in cap money.........great deal.

Finally ... some GREAT news!!

Was expecting that money to be spent on a sack-ologist ... but taking away the middle is also huge & having depth to not get worn down in the 4th Quarter.

After seeing the terms, great deal!! Nice job by the front office.

Wow, that is a very nice deal to retain Paul. Expected it too be much higher. NICE

Happy with this, did not want him to go but did not want to overpay
