MERGED: Dolphins sign Tyrell Johnson

also depends on what kind of contract he got, Clemons and Jones get alot of bashing around here. they are not super stars but are -were solid. if i remember correctly it was the CB's and Bell coverin the Dou of Te's from New england and Ny. esp Bell gettin tourched by Keller at least 2x a game.
Coyle has not said what the D plan will be, so lets hope for the best.

Jones was not solid. He got torched frequently.

This guy was a high 2nd round pick. Hopefully we can get a solid player out of him. You never know, a change of scenery can help. At the same time Leslie Fraizer is a pretty damn good defensive coach so its a suprise he hasnt developed more than this so far.
change of scenery did not help Jason Allen AT ALL

Coyle DID make Chris Crocker look like he belonged in the NFL and that amazes me.

ST's player maybe??

As a Vikings fan, I wanted to say he has a knack for dropping inceptions, I still remember the drop against the Saints in the NFC Championship game, I never forgave him for that! You would not want him to start, he is terrible

Ditto what RM84 has said. While I'm a Phins fan, I live up here and have seen enough of their games to chime in on this signing. Classic case of great college talent that never came close to living up to it in the pros. He ok on the run game, but a huge liability in the pass D. He could make an ok backup, but there's no way he should be our starter.

depth depth depth.... are we gonna go with any solid starters this year????

Unless Marshall starts at safety we basically got a bunch of back up types at safety. Secondary could be scary this year and I dont mean scary good lol

This team doesn't have the funds available to make that big splash in f/a that everyone is looking for. with these two added to our secondary (Marshall -S and Johnson - CB), Merling, Slaton and Soliai back on the roster, not to forget acquiring Garrard as our fail-safe #2 QB, and LB Westerman to bolster our ST, i think we have the flexibility to go in any direction (bpa) come draft day. Lets hope we can solve a major piece of the puzzle on our OL by signing Jake Scott in the coming weeks...

attached is a bleacher report article highlighting Miami's offseason moves up to this point, in it displaying the statistics of our QB and CB competition... While Moore and Garrard's numbers are somewhat similar, Richard Marshall is head and shoulders above Smith in terms of production last year. its for this reason i think r marshall was brought in to not only push, but to replace Sean Smith as our #2 CB... IMO, I wouldnt be surprised to see Smith as part of a draft day trade, get value for him while we can. then with an early pick, address the Safety position in the draft. Like i said, thats just my opinion.

This draft better be magical because we still have quite a few holes to fill for this year's season.

Johnson ran a 4.41 in the 40 at the scouting combine in 2008 and did 27 reps of 225 on the bench press. So he has some pretty good numbers

why does austin spitler need an exclusive right contract??? don't tell me they were afraid they'd lose him...ha ha...
