MERGED: Dustin Keller Injury Thread

anytime we lose a scrub to the pats, he turns into a star...we steal a legit player from one of our division rivals, kid doesnt even play a regular game for us...something is definitely wrong with the football gods...its just not fair...i was sick to my stomach, didnt even finish watching the rest of the game...

i just know you cant put it on philbin's shoulders...everyone plays their starts in the preseason...it is a freak injury...may have a chance to be avoided if the league let players play like men...

It's called good coaching. Hopefully Philbin will be a good to great coach. The fact that some teams can turn scrubs into superstars proves that coaching is 90% of the game. I mean, sure some players are better than others, but they are all NFL players. They are all that top .1% of people good enough to play in this league. The difference between the best RB and the worst running back (1st team mind you) is not that great in regards to skill. They are both big, fast, strong etc. It's just that one is usually coached better. There are very few exceptions to this rule.

I'm probably in the very small minority that think that tackle was not dirty at all... A few plays after/before that a Houston player got penalized for hitting up top. Now, I don't know how much you all like the new rule changes in the NFL, but I hate them. For a defensive player going to tackle someone hitting low is better than getting fined for hitting too high. This is going to happen, a lot. It's what they're told to do, not his fault Keller got injured. If it was our player making that hit then the conversation would be totally different.

I just hope it's not a torn ACL....

It wasn't dirty. Right after the hit I cursed the new rules. That is why Keller is (most likely) done for the season. A few years ago he may of had the wind knocked out of him, but today he's lost for the season.

What a ***** hit!! I hate defensive guys hitting on the knees, BE A MAN and tackle with your shoulder on his chest!!!

hate this post, anyone who's watched football as many times as diehard football fans do know what a shredded knee hit looks like by now. we've seen this injury over a thousand times in college and professional football by now. quit your "doctors" crap we don't need to be a doctor to know he's out for season.

Really.

I will give you an example of 'armchair & media doctors.'

last week, one of the top back rowers in Australian Rugby league hyper extended his knee. The media and fans immeadiately ruled him out for 4-6 weeks. you know what, he played the following week. he struggled, but he played. Let the real doctors make the decision....

Sometimes brother ya just know. Gotta have gumby ligaments to escape that unscathed, but it wont hurt to wish for the best

No coach, unless it's Sean Smith or Will Davis, will teach you to tackle at the chest. That's just not how you play the game. You are often taught to tackle and block at the thigh, just above the knee.

Lol. I'm not sure who told you that, but you're wrong. Blocking and tackling at the thigh is just stupid. Sure, wrapping up a players legs from behind is good, but not from the front. The shoulder pads should hit somewhere between the hips and chest. Not any lower or higher.

For sure. Hitting low is good form. Leaving your feet and diving helmet first however is not.

bad news ,there was always that fear imo with keller a touch fragile , wondering if ireland makes a trade?? team needs to win now rather than next or year after
anyone know how fasano or Moeaki are doing in K C???? ,there loaded at tightend i think ,maybe worth a punt ,
brent celek would interest me aswell, just cant see there being much on the street available

A knee sprain?!!!?! I wish! The mans knee was in a different time zone from his lower leg!

I almost hope he broke his leg on that, just because the recovery time would he faster than a torn ACL...

I'm not here to defend Swearinger or his hit ( I was at work but I got to see some of the game). I am sorry that happened and I have no way of knowing if it was a cheap shot or not. I do know that Swearinger tweeted after the game for everybody to pray for Keller; that the injury was unintended. I doubt these words soothe you much but I do wish you guys a good season, and I do think you have the best shot to compete with the Pats in the division.

well ****, at least everyone is praying for dustin. as long as people pray he'll be back to 100% by tomorrow morning.

Actually we were taught to tackle around the waist in highschool, this way, even if you begin to slip off, you can still attempt to get a piece of the offensive player, going low puts you at a disadvantage if your hit doesn't take the player down, or your not able to get a piece of him.
