Saban himself ......
Feeley is fighting for a roster spot justl like Rosefnels and Berlin.I wouldn't shock if Rosenfels starts the next game.
No..YOU read into it that Feeley was fighting for a roster spot. How do you know he was referring to Feeley. As far as McMichael response...could it be that the reporter asked about Gus only. I seem to remember the same typw of comments about Feeley before. Also..I think you should look at some of the Eagles comments about Feeley when he..led the team to a 4-1 finish and the division. Hmm..dont member them saying...he looks like a deer in headlights or any of that. Do you??? For a refresher..Google Feeley's career in Philadelphia. Or are we supposed to infer that that was all luck. Lets take a look at the stats so far shall we:
Gus - 31 17 194 54.8 6.3 1 3.2 0 0.0 44 2/13 84.6
Feeley - 20 10 95 50.0 4.8 0 0.0 1 5.0 22 1/7 42.7
Gus has attempted 11 more passes than Feeley. His lone TD was a fluke. How can anyone realisticly draw any conclusions on these numbers? Enough to say Gus starts now? OK. That argument I can buy. Cut AJ and promote Sage or Brock....NO WAY can I buy that argument.
What would AJ's rating be had DT caught that one pass? Above 65...
What would Gus's rating be if his wounded duck fell imcomplete? Much lower than 84.6.
Or if you dont buy my words..listen to Greg Bedards words from the post about last weeks game.
And I quote..
"Some people think Gus has pulled away from AJ. I don't think so. Gus had some really bad throws vs. the Jags and some bad reads. I saw a lot of players running free but the ball going elsewhere. And I still don't understand how you throw to Wes Welker in the end zone when David Boston is lined up on the outside one-on-one. Gus may be a vet, but we've have seen that his biggest weakness is mental breakdowns (the wall, anyone?).
I thought AJ did OK minus the interception. Having watched the play and then seeing AJ in the lockerroom after the game, I can tell you that throw was definitely made out of frustration. AJ is really, really frustrated. He didn't say anything, but you definitely sense that being around him. He's frustrated that he had to come out of the first game. He's frustrated he was playing with the twos and guys like Travis Minor and Derrius Thompson dropping easy passes. I think he feels like the starting job might now be Gus' and that he didn't really have a fighting chance.
I agree with him a little. This is what I would have done if I was Saban. I would have played both guys an equal amount vs. the Bears because it was an extra, weird game. Then I would have given each guy a start in the next two games and decided at that point. I can understand why Saban would be inclined to name a starter after the second game (to give the ones two good games to work together before barely playing the last game), but that Bears game was too strange to make that one of the auditions. It was played in a high school stadium, for crying out loud."
