MERGED:Enough with the QB's\How did we go from Feeley...

And I feel so much better knowing that we have handed the reigns to a QB who admittadley tossed up a wounded duck only to get a TD out of it. Oh..and that other drive that amounted in all of..what was it again....3 pts. Yeah Gus. Yoooouuuuu.......Cannnnn...Doooo Ittttt.

I agree.. but no matter how you look at it. Gus IS playing better. Its upto Feeley.

Id much rather a duck resulting in 6 for us, than 6 the other way!:rofl3:

Here's the thing. Frerotte is no star. He's nothing but a vet stopgap. Very average. The thing is, even against backups (who Frerotte tore up the first game) Feeley still has no pocket presence, which is especially sad for someone who is 6'3". He throws short when he shouldn't, and decides to throw deep when he shouldn't. He's a bad quarterback.

I feel like alot of these type of "dump feeley" threads come from the fact that a lot of people have been really hoping that Feely's down side was the result of a poor OL and coaching last year. It has been becoming more aparent that his down side is just how he plays reguardless of any other outside factors. People are stating to throw up their hands and say, "screw it".

Possibly being the starting QB on Friday..before Sat's game...to him being possibly cut. Ive had it. AJ...you dont realize this..but some of these thread authors are the best marketing tool you have for the VIP room. These threads make absolutley NO SENSE AT ALL!!!

Fine Gus is starting....he played marginally better than AJ Sat. He didnt play any better than AJ in the first game. But..hey...he sucks..so lets cut him...or let Sage or Brock...take over the #2.

Where does this line of thinking come from?

VIP here I come!!!!

Here goes that elitist VIP thinking again. Look man, people are going to have their opinions regardless of being VIP or not. People want to see him cut like me, but I don't think it is likely. At worst he goes to the three spot. Berlin looks good, but he will be signed to the practice squad, which is a good move for us becaue I think almost being run out of Miami after his stint at UM a light finally came on in the kids head. As aformentioned I would like to see Feeley gone, I have seen all I can stand, but I also hope he proves me wrong and becomes something great.

You nailed it! This is what camp is all about. To see what can the guy do and when you are paying a guy to be the starter he needs to perform at that level. AJ has done nothing to show he can move this team. Is it all his fault - maybe not BUT he is the leader and when you have a guy like McMike come out and make a comment like Gus shows he is our leader and can rally the troops what does that say. He played with AJ last year not Gus. I can't recall him menitoning those words about AJ. AJ couldn't beat out Ty freakin Detmer in Philly to be the #2 guy c'mon! And that was a system he knew well. You don't need to be on the VIP site to realize.

Saban himself ......

Feeley is fighting for a roster spot justl like Rosefnels and Berlin.I wouldn't shock if Rosenfels starts the next game.

Good post.... fans are so fickled it's amazing.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion...unless they are stupid or just wrong!

I agree with the Feeley haters - I think he is a poor QB, not by what I've seen this preseason, but by what I saw last year. I don't care if the O-Line was garbage, the Bucs O-Line was garbage and one of our old QB's did halfway decent over there on the west side of Florida!
Also, he is admittedly a terrible practice-player. So does he consider preseason games practice!?!?! I hope so!!!!

What is all the VIP room/A.J Feeley stuff all about?

Hes just making the point that conversations in the VIP room are more articulate and well researched and versed.

I fail to see it from his post.

People will have opinions, that's what this board is all about. It's a bad joke to think that the VIP room will change that.

Cut Feeley and our losses now!

No..YOU read into it that Feeley was fighting for a roster spot. How do you know he was referring to Feeley. As far as McMichael response...could it be that the reporter asked about Gus only. I seem to remember the same typw of comments about Feeley before. Also..I think you should look at some of the Eagles comments about Feeley when he..led the team to a 4-1 finish and the division. Hmm..dont member them saying...he looks like a deer in headlights or any of that. Do you??? For a refresher..Google Feeley's career in Philadelphia. Or are we supposed to infer that that was all luck. Lets take a look at the stats so far shall we:

Gus - 31 17 194 54.8 6.3 1 3.2 0 0.0 44 2/13 84.6

Feeley - 20 10 95 50.0 4.8 0 0.0 1 5.0 22 1/7 42.7

Gus has attempted 11 more passes than Feeley. His lone TD was a fluke. How can anyone realisticly draw any conclusions on these numbers? Enough to say Gus starts now? OK. That argument I can buy. Cut AJ and promote Sage or Brock....NO WAY can I buy that argument.

What would AJ's rating be had DT caught that one pass? Above 65...

What would Gus's rating be if his wounded duck fell imcomplete? Much lower than 84.6.

Or if you dont buy my words..listen to Greg Bedards words from the post about last weeks game.

And I quote..

"Some people think Gus has pulled away from AJ. I don't think so. Gus had some really bad throws vs. the Jags and some bad reads. I saw a lot of players running free but the ball going elsewhere. And I still don't understand how you throw to Wes Welker in the end zone when David Boston is lined up on the outside one-on-one. Gus may be a vet, but we've have seen that his biggest weakness is mental breakdowns (the wall, anyone?).

I thought AJ did OK minus the interception. Having watched the play and then seeing AJ in the lockerroom after the game, I can tell you that throw was definitely made out of frustration. AJ is really, really frustrated. He didn't say anything, but you definitely sense that being around him. He's frustrated that he had to come out of the first game. He's frustrated he was playing with the twos and guys like Travis Minor and Derrius Thompson dropping easy passes. I think he feels like the starting job might now be Gus' and that he didn't really have a fighting chance.

I agree with him a little. This is what I would have done if I was Saban. I would have played both guys an equal amount vs. the Bears because it was an extra, weird game. Then I would have given each guy a start in the next two games and decided at that point. I can understand why Saban would be inclined to name a starter after the second game (to give the ones two good games to work together before barely playing the last game), but that Bears game was too strange to make that one of the auditions. It was played in a high school stadium, for crying out loud."
