MERGED:ESPN reporting the Dolphins are trying to clear cap space for Simon

I know, ive stopped yelling at them. Its starting to get really depressing and hard for me to argue with Bills and Jets fans. Bills and Jets fans call us stupid then I argue back and then these posts come and I think to myself, "why bother"

You'd like the VIP room. I hope that doesn't come across a pompass. It's just difficult reading so many posts void of logic.

I'll be waiting on you.
Besides, it's worth it just for the cool bumper sticker :goof:

Let me get this straight.

Before we took Manny Wright in the 5th round, we were going crazy over our DT situation, going as far as saying it was the WEAKEST link on our team (yes, ahead of OL/QB/Secondary)... We were flipping out... we cant stop the run.. etc. etc. etc.

We draft this kid, considered to be a project, and all of a sudden we are FINE at DT!? Yes, the line has played great in preseason but you do not pass up the opportunity (if it works from a business standpoint) to add a premier player at a VERY important position! Chester seems like his career is slowly coming to an end, Zgonina is not starting caliber, Traylor is no youngster... Simon would be a TERRIFIC addition!

Sheesh people. Let the personnel department worry about the $$. If we do sign him, then we are fine financially or we have a plan at least. Saban and Co. will not let us do anything that jeapordizes the franchise.

I quite agree. The only real veteran DT's we have are Chester & Zgonina & Romero, (Holliday & Carter are more LDE's and hybrid DT's and Traylor is a NT) and we have two rookies in Vickerson and Wright, although I think Wright could end up as a LDE down the road. Given that Chester is coming off a really serious injury and that Romero is likely a back-up and that Zgonina will be gone after this season we certainly need help at DT. Simon is in the prime of career and would be a good pick up.

Simon is a hometown boy from Pompano...there is NO WAY THIS GUY TAKES PLAYS OFF IF HES A MIAMI DOLPHIN. This is his team. I sure hope we get em.

Very good point. Hard for people who were screaming bloody murder about our DT situation pre-Manny Wright to turnaround now and say we don't need Simon when Wright has been nothing but a fat pustule with a lot of potential thus far through camp and preseason.

Of course, I believe I went on record prior to the draft saying that we should probably stay away from Manny Wright, and part of it was because I was saying our biggest need is NT not DT, and Wright can't play NT.

Bring him home baby!! This would be our biggest addition of the off-season.

IMO it would be one heck of an addition.

I read that Simon has 105 career quarterback pressures. When you average 21 pressures and 6.4 sacks a year from the defensive tackle position...it makes a defensive end's job WAY easier to get sacks.

My god...imagine a defense with Kevin Carter, Corey Simon, and Jason Taylor rushing the passer from a 3-4 setting. No quarterback in the league would want to play us...and that's what you want. Fear.

Uhhh....no!!!! I don't think so. He would be an upgrade but best addition of the off season, I think Carter, and R.Brown would be better additions then Simon.
