MERGED: First Depth Chart Released

That does seem like Saban's style. Rather than waging a battle in the media he'll be much more subtle about it. I wonder how he will treat Ronnie whenhe does sign. This certainly isn't something he was used to at LSU.

Well that's kind of what I am saying, releasing this depth chart does seem like a subtle way of reminding Ronnie that he needs to join the team.

where will the depth chart be posted, on nfl.com on the Miami page?

Guys, HE'S NOT ON THE TEAM, so OF COURSE he isn't going to be on the depth chart.

... I'm interested in the RB depth chart. Saban said that Ricky will have to work his way back up, but based on the TC reports, it seems like he is outperforming everyone already. I don't know where Ronnie will end up on this either. Hmmm ...

Ronnie's not on the team yet, so he shouldn't be the depth chart at all.

Miami dolphins website says the depth chart wont be released until the 1st preseson game 8-8-05 vs the bears, some body is wrong

This protracted contract situation with Ronnie Brown is starting to become a distraction. He won't want to look like the last guy standing without a chair as everyone else in the first round gets signed. I just hope his absense doesn't affect his durabilty or effectiveness in the passing game.

The RB depth chart should look interesting. According to Greg Bedard, Sammy Morris has been the most impressive runner out there. Yet, according to our TC reporters, Ricky is head and shoulders above everyone else there. If Sammy really is our best runner, I see no reason he wouldn't top out today's depth chart. If Ricky tops out the depth chart (unlikely given his work-your-way-up mandate from the coaches), then obviously Bedard didn't know what he was talking about. If Lamar Gordon or Travis Minor top the chart, then Bedard would have to find a plausible reason why their best runner isn't on top of the depth chart...especially since Sammy was our most-used runner last season.

Of other interest...I'm dying to see if Carey really has taken a lead in the LT job or they're just getting him tons of reps because they know the reps are going toward a good cause (ie. Carey has tons of potential and is getting better with every rep). I think seeing Daniels at the top of the depth chart at CB opposite Madison should be absolutely no surprise. The front seven should be fun to see finally mapped out...though I'm guessing it'll be Donnie, Junior, and Zach at LB, with Carter, Traylor, Zgonina, and JT on the DL. But, every single day I hear at least one good note on Kevin Vickerson. That means he's got to be pretty hard to ignore and maybe he's got Zgon beat for a starting spot so far...

I bet Boston is 4th on the depth chart at WR...

I still don't understand why people would rather have AJ just GET the job than have the BEST QB get the job. I for one want to win, I don't care if we only win 8 games...when I go out on a Sunday I want to see the Miami Dolphins win football games. Thats all that counts.

i think they are hoping that AJ will end up being the best QB for the job, Phinomina

Yeah but saying he BETTER just seems to imply he should be given it.

But I agree with you Tucker, I hope he does win it outright. Might as well see what we have in him this year so we know if it is a need next year.

Personally I don't think he is the answer but I hope he proves me wrong. The worst thing that could happen is he puts up Jay Fiedler numbers (not bad enough to force a replacement but not good enough to win many games). I want to either have a capable starter or look elsewhere.

I'd be shocked if AJ has the lead on the QB battle.

Anyway, is this thing actually coming out today or are we just wasting time in this thread?

Then again CK, it may not be, a report from saturday, more of a summary had the following, which if anything, is interesting.

ROSTER BATTLES:

Feeley vs Frerotte: Feeley had the better performance on Saturday, starting with his deep bomb to Chambers. Frerotte had a decent outing, but couldn't duplicate the big plays that Feeley created. It may also be significant that Feeley was starting this mock game, which is the first one the team has had.

Booker vs Boston: Neither Booker nor Boston drew praise from onlookers on Saturday, but Boston sat out the scrimmage for unknown reasons and so far, has not cracked the starting lineup.
