I am cofused and i need some experts answers on this. Isn't the NT only suppose to be the DT in the 3-4? And what exactly is the OE that JT is playing?

Yes. Usually the NT is the big guy in the middle.... I dont know what Zgonina is doing there. He is one of the smaller guys on the Dline. Only problem is we are not playing a 3-4. We have a 3-4/4-3 hybrid going on. OE is the open end, like discussed before. For JT, its pretty much what he played before only now I expect him to drop back in coverage more and move around the Dline more. I LOVE the Idea of Bowens backing up JT. I was really confused of where Bowens would fit in this defense him being the type of DE JT is sizewise. I know Saban likes the larger Dlineman so I was really really confused with Bowens. It all makes a LOT of sense now with Bowens playing the same positions JT does. Now that I see the chart, I am THRILLED we signed Bowens to a replacement because he is a perfect backup for what JT does. I figured Carter and Roth would be the opposite DE's but I was really curious to see how he would label the DT's because it gives you a hint of what the center of our line will look like. However I am extremely confused with Zgonina at NT. I could see DT, but not NT. Maybe I am thinking too much definition of what the NT is in a 3-4.

Now that you see the depth chart, try making your own 53 man roster. Tough eh? Who do you cut? I would have loved for Wright and Vickerson to BOTH make the 53 man roster to get time in at DT/NT for future grooming....

I have seen defenses that were 4-3 however had NT and DT. One being the 2000 Raven's defense where Tony was a NT.

Yeah I think you might be right on that, it all just depends on where the player gets in his stance. Some might line up over center, in which case you'd call him a NT.

Ahh, but you are wrong my good friend Byroan. If you were an annoying Bills fan you would most certainly be on a Dolphins board, rather than a Bills board.

:roflmao:

 What was I thinking? That was a horrible example I used. :smackhead

Whomever is playing NT will line up in the 1 gap, and the DT will line up in the 3 gap. The DT could be either Carter or Holliday, depending on which side JT is on, as in which side of the offensive formation is the weak/open side. That is how it looks to me anyway.

holy cow, first depth chart and everyone is going nuts! relax what till you see what it looks like after the preseason games are through

All:

I would not put too much stock into the first preseason depth chart. Chances are it will look very different come the Denver game.

Ricky still best

Ok maybe Nick is trying to cool Ricky off ,but it still seems to me just watching that Ricky is still the best back in camp! The way he carries himself and glides threw practice ,is just so much smoother and still can move.So we'll jst have to wait for game time to see. ;)

I am not sure why everyone is all uptight about Ricky being 4th. People, he cant play til the 4th game. The depth chart is meant for week 1. Why would be be #1??? Brown is unsigned, RW will be out 4 weeks, so Gordon is #1. Not surew why everyone is getting upset about Ricky being 4th, he cant play til Oct....

What I noticed is that Larry Chester is nowhere on that list. Not on the injured or active. Same for John Denney.

we have a game next monday. no way brown is ready for that game. will he even see any action if he were to sign this week.
