Frerotte...linehan.

ok, now that linehans gone, does anyone think Gus' value has dropped a little? Part of Gus' resume' is that he knows this offense. Now we may not change our offense, and hopefully if we do change it won't be by that much. However, ifwe do, Do you think this greatly effects frerottes chances of staying or not?

if the offense changes, of course. the only reason Gus started was his knowlege of the offense DESPITE his lack of accuracy. With everyone learning a new offense together, he will have no advantages and thus, i believe we'll have a different starter

If we don't change the offense and we work Bagget in as the new OC, I would think Gus's knowledge of the offense would be even more valuable.

:yeahthat:

Yup. All you Frerotte detractors, time to hope for a new offense!

Noticing that Gus got a little worse is like noticing that Paris Hilton got a little trashier.

Also to add, another reason Gus was our starter is because of lack of better options. There was no one else really in FA to sign, and if you looked at our depth chart and HAD to pick oe QB. It would be Gus, he's the best out of Sage/Gus/Cleo.

But if we change offense and have a better QB option thro FA, then Gus may lose his startig job here, if we draft a rookie, I'd prefer Gus just stay put and groom.

I'm not a "Guskateer" but I am not a Gus hater either....he played really well especially on our 6 same streak to end the year....BUT, his overall passer ratings and inconsistency is why we eventually are going to need a franchise QB...hopefully sooner than later. Whoever we bring in as the OC, if Linehan leaves, has two solid running backs to work with plus some great receivers, we just need a solid QB and some upgrades on the O-line. I think a guy like Cutler could get us to the next level, and I want to see Zach and JT win a SB before they are in a rocking chair. :)

...hmm funny....but i didn't say he got worse...just that his value to us may have gotten lowered....

Agree totally about the depth chart and better talent....but unless we sign a FA that is clearly a talent improvement over Gus he will most likely be our starting QB, no rookie we happen to draft is going to start this coming year.

I will add this last thought about Gus. I was extremely dissapointed in Gus's inconsistency this year. I believed even with his career numbers he would have played at a slightly higher or atleast more consistent level from game 1 thru game 16. However, I think he even underpreformed where I thought or felt he could play at. I think he was off his game.

So, I am hoping that if he is the starter based on other options next year, he can atleast play at the level I think he is capable of, and if by some chance he actually exceeds that level, most here would be pleasently pleased because it would most likely equal any upcoming FA QB and what their traditional standard performance would produce.

Gus' advantage wasnt ONLY that he knew the offense Linehan was installing. Gus also plays smart and generaly makes good decisions and has yrs of experience. AJ Feeley was playing like a terd, and Sage obviously wasnt ready.

I know it seems like that because we were winning, but Gus himself actually had THREE bad games out of the last six. And he had NINE bad games for the year... six of them godawful.

Because of the optimism of the season as a whole people think Gus did better than he actually he did. He was a truly horrible quarterback for us. Only a handful of quarterbacks in all of football were worse.

I can see what you mean

the last 6 games, which we won as I'm sure you know, his QBR was 83.5, that's a career high for a 6 game stretch from Gus....much more than I ever expected out of him.....and 8 Td's to two INTs, I'd take every day of the week.

And trust me, I have always been against Gus Frerotte as the Miami Dolphins QB.
