MERGED: Interviews With Assitant Coaches

Muschamp looks 12, and has the same approach as Saban when talking to the media- tight lips. He seems knowledgeable though, and is basically tutoring Smith.

Am I the only one that found it funny when Richard Smith would answer a question after Muschamp with "I feel the same way"? :lol

Yes and I put the over/under for the length of time that Smith will be in Miami at 1 year. If there were any questions as to who's defense they would be running, it was answered in the first or second statement.

Another thing about Muschamp is that none of the coaches were allowed to do interviews under Saban while at LSU. That is why Muschamp looks a little green with the interviewing. He did though, from all accounts, make almost all the defensive calls during the games .

How refreshing is it to have a professional coaching staff?

I'd never heard Linehan speak before but he is impressive....he knows exactly what he is doing.

I think the first coach plucked off our staff by another team will be Muschamp...after we win a Super Bowl some team will offer hm their head coaching job.

The most important thing I got out of all those interviews...I REALLY trust Hudson Houck...I honestly don't see this team ever being outcoached again.

Muschamp will be our DC by as early as next season.

I remember some LSU fans coming on the board and telling us we would love his energy on the sidelines and the way he interacts with his players (chest bumps, yelling etc.) Should be a nice change.

finally some real info and a taste of our team...

.....forget Sun-Sentinel boys and girls-this was a nice gift from Dolphin media relations to turn the wolves loose on 4 key assistant coaches-just watched over 1/2 hour of interviews which were by far the best insight into whats going on I've heard since Nick took over

my impressions:
Scott Linehan toed the party line and sounded a lot like Coach Saban-when asked about Ricky and Ronnie in the same backfield, said he only "focuses on the guys that are here" etc-was very complimentary of Chambers and McMichael while hesitating comparing Chris to Randy Moss (smart guy)

Hudson Houck is a dynamic guy and I found myself having hope for the season listening to him speak....seemed most impressed with "Rex"-said he was a strong leader who was equally good at guard or center-also impressed with Jeno and Stockar-said Wade Smith is too small for tackle or guard and quick enough to play center (silly Wannstedt-shoulda asked Houck-Tony Wise will be exposed this season as these guys improve weekly)

Wil Muschamp and Richard Smith seemed like the 2-headed coordinator-Smith is getting a "crash course" in Saban's defense from Muschamp-they answered questions equally and took turns-a little weird-sort of made me feel like last year with the hot potato offensive coordinator position, except I know St Nick won't allow any crap amongst the staff-comments included compliments on Channing Crowder's intensity and work ethic (and he played Sam Mike and Will (Wil?) linebacker), many comments by Smith about still being in the teaching phase, and I found it interesting that Muschamp and Nick were coaching the secondary along with Mel Phillips-Muschamp is a young southern gentleman who was "brought up right"

Shaping up to be an entertaining and fun-to-watch, if not playoff bound year-I am pumped about hearing the real deal a little after OTA's are done....

good read...sam will and mike mean strongside weakside and middle linebacker, where channing has played

i found it very satisfying when houck said the way an o line plays is first and foremost a reflection of the head coach and how he has prepared the team. wanny, u suck!

Tim Davis will play a factor in a decision on Wright

Tim Davis was the OL coach at USC; his lineman matched up against Wright for at least two years. His knowledge of Wright should play big in any decision on Wright.
