Merged: Jeff Ireland Gone

Barry Jackson says Philbin's workload will not increase and Aponte wil also not be the new GM. The Dolphins want to hire a GM with a track record.

As long as she isnt in charge of player personnel as it relates to acquiring talent (draft, FA, etc...)

People are all excited that Ireland is gone, but will be pissed when Aponte is the one in charge of the team. LOL.

No one can take this feeling away from me! 6 long horrible years, we can at least have a day to rejoice

the rest of the day is pure celebration mode!

Our cap would be healthy....so there's that

Might not have any talent, but the cap would be in awesome shape.

nice...won't be hard finding a gm willing to tie himself to ryan tannehill...should be plenty of interest

Bill Polian, who then comes in, cleans house and hires Tony Dungy...

Hey, stranger things have happened and a man sure can dream!

I’ve already heard from multiple people around NFL asking what Dolphins will do at GM. High interest. This is going to be VERY coveted role.

Read that real slow guys. Let it soak in.

We HAVE a coveted job in the NFL. COVETED.

That tells me its not just the chair or the office that is COVETED, it's the organization. That means we have important pieces in place that people want to work with and develop. They see success and winning here.

Let it sink in a little longer.

Aponte, Tannehill, Philbin, Ross.... these are what they are talking about.

Stop thinking "Philbin next year if...". The Gods of the NFL look favorably upon us because of pieces we have and the people in charge.

Those names are gonna be here a while. And people want to be a part of it.

It's a great day to be a Phin. Soak it up. And show some pride.

EDIT: I thought FinHeaven would have blown up and crashed by now. :)

Way to go Staff!

Wonder how many of you will be upset and disappointed about the GM decision if it's not to you're liking. Don't be pissed if it's not who you want it to be.

bill polian is a dinosaur...so is carl peterson but i think it's very possible

It Went Down Exactly As I Said It Would Except For The Timing.

Last week I told Dolphin Nation Ireland would be fired, which most people knew or assumed would happen. But I detailed for you all how this would play out. Ross demanded that Failbin either fired some of his assistants or he would be shown the door along with them. Failbin as I told you, threw his buddy Mike Sherman under the bus to save is butt. Well I was right, yet again (Ho Hum). Now as a Dolphin fan, this is the best I have felt since the day I heard we had gotten Bill Parcells. Unfortunately that did not work out. Let us hope now that the group of consultants Ross brought in will help him make a sound decision to hire a prominent GM. Hopefully that GM will then get rid of Joe Failbin.

I do not believe that. Ross says to you that you have to keep Dawn Aponte AND the HC…that will quickly not be coveted.
