Merged: Jeff Ireland Gone

I don't really have a problem with her. You have to admit, she has managed the cap situation pretty well since she arrived. We always are under the cap and never seems to have a problem attracting veterans and being able to afford them. Hell we gave Wallace a 60 mil contract, and we're projected to be what? 20 some million under, without any cuts. We always have money to spend, to me that's doing a pretty good job. But yes you are right, there is still a faint smell of tuna amongst us.

The writing was on the wall for Ireland when I heard that Dawn Aponte was telling Philbin everything he was suppose to say at the press conferences. I believed Aponte pushed this situation along with Ross recently by asking Ross out of her contract to leave for a New York job. Take the above implied relationship between Aponte and Philbin and they put Ireland in a dead end situation.
My guess is the speculation around the league will be Aponte is leading the show down here so getting a veteran GM will be a hard sale so expect a younger guy eager for a opportunity and willing to take a chance.

Aponte will not be running this team. She will do as she is told or hit the road.
A football executive man(Like Tony Dungy) will run the team, and Philbin, Aponte, and the new GM will have equal power and report to the executive.
Just my .02

I did not expect this :) :)

All Dolphin fans should go out and buy a lottery ticket because today is a very lucky day. I am very surprised by the announcement. It will be interesting if Jeff picks up another GM role or becomes a consultant to players going into the draft on how to impress GMs and Mel Kiper Jr.

Saw the news and almost couldn't believe it! In last couple of days I had my doubts. And now to my suprise Christmas may have come late for me but it has been worth it now. Rott in hell Ireland your picks and trades last couple of years have been some of the worse I have seen. As i was one that was not particularly thrilled with your moves to get Jordan. I think he could jave done better and gotten more help had he kept picks. As for Dion will he be a good player for us. Don't know. I hope so considering what we gave up to get him. I really hope he is not some big project player. But don't let the door hit ya on way out jeffey!

One of the best things is that I actually can look forward to the draft now. If Ireland was still here I probably wouldn't of even bothered.
