MERGED: Kirby Puckett Suffers Stroke | Dead at 44

Growing up as a Royals fan, I got to see the Twins a lot. Kirby was a joy to watch. He will be missed.

Geez...

I just heard he weighed NEARLY 400 POUNDS!

That'll do ya in everytime.

RIP Kirby

:boohoo: Good bye Kirby. I thank you for ruining Atlanta's hopes of a World Series, and for your great play over the years

you will be missed

He will be sorely missed. I can still see his smile. He and Cal Jr. helped bring back baseball after the strike.

this is so sad. Im from MN and they just flashed it on the bottom of the TV screen here. Pucket was huge and most people dont know how great he was until they have been to MN. It made front page here just because of his stroke. It will probally be the headliner now that he died. R.I.P to the most popular and best athlete in Minnesota History!!!!

Way too young to die.

RIP Kirby Puckett

Awful news. Kirby was a thrill to watch player, he brought excitement to the game and he always looked like he was having a blast playing the game. It was too bad his career was cut short due to his eye. Eventhough he had his troubles later in his life its a shame his life was cut short. Rest in peace Kirby, thanks for the memories....

 I loved Kirby as a player. This is a very very sad day. Another great athlete gone way too soon.

Kirby, you were one of my top 10 Sports Hero's. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the entire baseball work and the Puckett family. I even cried myself for a few minutes... god bless you Kirby

I am utterly heart broken....he was a great player. He is one of those, "he embodies everything that is great about baseball" type of players. A real inspiration to evryone that isnt blessed with the an amazing athletic body. Love Kirby.. gonna miss him......RIP

My favorite athlete of all time, he played baseball the way you'd want to see any sport played. I only hope my boys will have as good a memories of sports someday as I do of watching and listening to Kirby play when I was a kid. R.I.P. Kirby, you will be missed.
