THIS GUY just isn't interested. Or maybe he is.http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-fo...port-gruden-would-decline-offer-for-miami-job Or maybe he isn't. But you know what you have to love? THE PASSION. He's in. He's out. He's movin'. He's making things happen ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD. He's got Miami fans excited because THEY KNOW HIS NAME. THEY SEE HIS FRECKLES ON TELEVISION. They respect THE GRIMACE SPOTS.
LOOK AT THE GRIMACE.

THAT GRIMACE HAS A SUPER BOWL RING. It runs an offense that hasn't ever worked with any consistency or high degree of success at the college level. He'd probably put his brother as offensive coordinator. ARENA BALL IS WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR HERE HAVE YOU SEEN HOW MUCH THEY SCORE? THIS GUY just knows he'll be a success because he's got negligible college coaching experience and THAT'S JUST WHAT MIAMI NEEDS! Have you seen his thighs? THIS GUY'S GOT SOME REAL STOVEHORNS I TELL YA. He hasn't recruited at the college level since 1989 BUT LEMME TELL YOU HE FLASHES THAT SUPER BOWL RING AND IT'S OVER.

What's changed is he's only paid by Tampa through this year I believe.
Wasn't that in regards to the Hurricanes?

I know it generally doesn't make much sense to fire a HC after 4 games but I think this is the exception. If Ross has his mind made up pull the trigger, let Chucky have 12 games to look over the team.

When has that ever happened? No big name hire is going to just jump into a horrible situation mid-season with no time to prepare. Even if it were possible, why on Earth would Gruden want to do that?

Gruden, the alleged QB guru was the second moron in 05 at the 5 spot who needed a franchise QB to pass on Rodgers and instead stand pat with an already journeyman Brian Griese while drafting Ronnie's fellow part time SEC RB, Cadillac Williams. - unsettlingly eerie, isn't it?

Not to defend him here, thats not my intent. I am just trying to maybe rationalize his thinking...

Anyway, if I remember right, Griese was doing pretty well in Tampa, definitely better than he did with us and then Zach hit'em low and messed his knee up. Not saying Zach did that to him on purpose of course.

In the end maybe he thought that Griese could come back from that and that Simms (who was a young QB at that time...didn't he get drafted by Tampa?) would learn and take over especially considering the QB stock both of those guys come from (Bob Griese and Phil Simms).

The Caddy deal at first seemed crazy that WE ddint get him over Brown. I remember people on here at Finheaven flipping out when Williams was playing great and Brown wasn't as rookies.

However, we all know what happened in the long run.

That may be so....But i would seriously seriously doubt that one of the top prospects is available and he decides to pick another position.

Same argument can be made about Reggie Bush, and the Texans took Mario Williams, I wish we signed Mario instead of Reggie this off season!! Just sayin...

he is an expert at the position that we need most, bring him in, but they still need a gm who will it be. he will be my answer to the please bring in someone from the bill walsh tree

If he wants to coach again, he'll come to the Dolphins. But, I feel like he may stay in the booth.

When my buddy worked for the Bucs during training camp, he said Gruden was fired up about finding a t-shirt to wear before breaking down film in the middle of the night.
That's kind of disturbing, to be honest.

What exactly did he win?
The Division, twice. In 4 years in Oakland, he never had a season below .500...he took over a 4-12 team and went 8-8, 8-8, 12-4, 10-6. The year after he left the Raiders made the SB...so, either he gets credit for winning with Tampa or he gets credit for the Raiders being there...one or the other...after 2002, the Raiders haven't had a winning season...It's virtually impossible to win there with Al Davis, it's a circus show...and he managed to win the AFC West twice. And the AFC West wasn't the trash division it is now.

Of the big 3 I'd much rather go with Fisher, Gruden then Cowher in that order. I really don't want Cowher because he is a ground and pound win with defense guy and I am tired of that philosophy. It doesn't work in todays NFL. With Gruden and most likely being in a position for either Luck, Barkley or Jones, it would be hard for him to turn it down. If Gruden is the choice, he'll provide a modern offense instead of this..............whatever it is we do.

Whoever takes over will be in an excellent position to get the long needed franchise QB and that will be hard to turn down. I would think that part of the deal will be that the Dolphins do in fact draft a franchise QB instead of a cornfed OL as is their history. Gruden would provide the best shot at a QB but the drawback is Ireland may survive as GM.

Not my first choice, and I do have concerns, which I have mentioned before. But it wouldn't be the worst choice in the world and this report does seem to make some sense. Ross reportedly offered Gruden a deal that would have paid him $7 million a year that he turned down in January. Whether it was a formal offer or just a brief conversation it appears there was definitely interest.

One thing to remember with Gruden is that the Buccaneers gave him a three year contract extension in 2008 that paid him roughly $6 million a year. Since they fired him, they still needed to pay his salary so he is still being paid $6 million this year, AND a salary from ESPN. So that could be the reason why he turned Ross down in January because it was a lot more work for the same if not, less pay. His Buccaneers contract ends after this season, so this appears to be the perfect time for Gruden to jump back into coaching.

I still prefer Cowher though, but Gruden would definitely be #2 of the big three.

Agreed, Cowher is the best coach, however I like Gruden as a consolation prize.

Again, I'm afraid that Cowher has lost the fire. He would be far away my first choice but he could be another Jimmy Johnson. Gruden is obsessive which is what you need. He has a lot of the same sleeping problems that I have and he also has a airplane like fan at night to cover all sound.

But we need a good NFL Head Coach and someone with the desire. If Gruden does not take this team I'm not sure what he is waiting for. It worries me that maybe no one really wants to work for Ross and they also want Ireland gone(I hope).

Jeff Fisher would be my consolation prize. He has recent NFL experience and he is watching the NFL closely.

It needs to be done before the play offs so our new HC can get the best assistants.
