Merged: Lamar Gordon to Jacksonville?

That would be a horrendously stupid move. This is the problem that everyone apparently chooses to ignore....you have to treat the running back position as if Ricky Williams didnt even exist. If you depend on Ricky to be the backup you are setting yourself up for disaster. While Williams is here(if he returns), use him...but never depend on him. If the Jags want to trade for Minor or Morris or even KayJay, fine, but we shouldnt trade away our #1 backup.

When did the Jags hire Spielman?

OK, that was actually pretty funny..... :rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3:

I think a 4th is the BEST we'd do.

Maybe a 5th, which can upgrade to a 4th would be more realistic.

And that's fine, since we are deep at RB...

Please, why do you always try to stir up trouble and ruin a thread? Jeeze!

Anything is possible is all I was trying to say.
I haven't said anything different from what was said here.

Oh ok, that seems kinda high for a FB for a team that uses a lot of Shotgun and Singleback sets, but I guess thats why I'm not a GM/Coach.

I can't explain it, either. I don't know if that's their code for "he sucks" or if they just really want a FB.

We won't get a 3rd for Gordon. Not right now. If he lights it up during preseason, MAYBE. But right now we'd be lucky to get a 4th. And I'd take it.

The last regime overpaid for the Gordon. Both sides of the transaction have been completed.

One other note on Gordon: His salary is only $455K. But he's set to become a UFA this offseason. You generally don't trade high draft picks for a guy who's about to become a free agent and wants a chance to start. Especially when there's already an ultra talented guy on the roster whom you're still fairly committed to (I believe Jax would take a minimum $4 million cap hit if the cut Fred Taylor this offseason).

Do you always have to whine when I reply to what is posted ?

Wow, me saying one little thing makes you think that i am whining. And it is pretty sad when you have more post here then a Bills site.

Ok, now i am done. I must stay on topic now.

no way, not yet... do not give up gordon when we still dont have ronnie signed, or seen him run with pads on, and still dont know whats up with ricky... id ask for a 3rd at the minimum, if they are willing to part with it then def take it, but msot likely they wont do that and we'll ohld on to gordon until we see how our RB situation pans out...

Incidentally, Jacksonville has invested a relatively large sum in RBs lately.

They spent a #4 on LaBrandon Toefield in '03. They spent a #2 on Greg Jones in '04. And they spent a #4 on Alvin Pearman this year. Plus they've got Taylor (injured or not) on the roster making pretty good money.

Even though it looks like Jones will be playing FB, I think it's doubtful that Jax would spend anything above a mid-late 2nd day pick on Gordon at this point.

hang on guys--Ronnie could be a bust (unlikely though), ricky may never play again for us (quite likely--but hope not) lamar to Jax--and where does that leave us--same ol s**t pit as last year--let us not be too hasty until Ricky returns and ronnie signs and starts showing us what he can do :)

........and if my Aunt had nutz, she'd be my Uncle! Too many what-if's. Saban will deal Gordon if the $$$ is right, don't sweat it.:D

thank you . . . a 3rd for Gordon is ludicrous . . . jax is OK at the RB spot for now . . .

Good idea, because he didn't start anything or do anything wrong. You did.

Carry on everyone.

If you're Rick Spielman, it's a helluva deal. :(

True, but if Ricky and Ronnie take command of the #1 and #2 spot, I wouldn't mind shipping Gordon to Jacksonville and get back a 3rd.
if Henry only went for a 3rd. there is NO WAY a team will trade a 3rd for gordon. a 5th rounder is more realistic.
