Merged: Lamar Gordon to Jacksonville?

whats wrong with their back-ups Jones and Toefield? I think Toefield is good enough to start somewhere if he had the chance

If Toefield was any good then they wouldntve wasted a 2 on Jones last year AND a 4 on Pearman this year . . .

I think that Greg Jones can be a very good player for them if he can split the load.

Trading Gordon would allow us to keep Harris who looks to be very good. If we could redeem a 3 or 4 and sign Schulters this would be X-mas in July. Saban will have done more in one year than Spilelman/Wannstedt in four years.

I agree. Before his ACL tear during his junior year he was an absolute beast. I thought he was going ot be a sure fire first round pick.

I'd offer them Gordon for a 5th, and let them bargain me down to a 6th that could become a 5th based on production (realistic ones though, like 500 yards or something). I think that is realistic. People need to learn to cut their losses. We already lost the value on that Gordon trade. The fact that the Jags might be interested in him now is just luck. We're not getting anything close to a 3rd for him.

I would also offer them Gordon straight up for Greg Jones. I don't know how they feel about Jones, but I know that in Linehan's offense he could be the next Leroy Hoard/Moe Williams/Jerome Bettis. Ronnie is athletic and strong enough to push it into the endzone consistently, but there is a point to be made that those tough redzone yards can really put some unnecessary wear and tear on a star quality runningback. Linehan definitely showed a preference for using Moe Williams in the redzone in Minnesota...and Lamar Gordon is more Ronnie Brown than he is Moe Williams, IMO.

If we lose Gordan as a free agent next year, would we get
a comp. pick?

If Gordon is going to be traded it'll most likely be during the preseason where teams can see if he's healthy. I'd honestly start Gordon the first 3 preseason games and give him 12-15 carries each of those games and gear it to make him look good.

if Henry only went for a 3rd. there is NO WAY a team will trade a 3rd for gordon. a 5th rounder is more realistic.

You can't compare things like that. Different situations for different teams and players.

No way... I wish, but we signed waaaaaay to many solid names to get any comp consideration. And who did we lose?? Knight? Greenwood?

I dont think we can really afford to deal Gordan right now until we have Ronnie signed and in camp and until we can see if Ricky is really going to be a part of the team this year. If we deal with the Jags I think we should ask for a 3rd rounder for Gordan and nothing less.

The only reason STL got a 3rd for Gordon is b/c we were DESPERATE!!! If Shaun Alexander is out there for a 2nd and there are no takers, there's no way Gordon's value is a 3rd rounder... we'll get a 5th TOPS, and we should take it

What about using that strategy but ask for a 3rd or 4th then we can go down from there. Truth is that the Jags don't know how healthy Taylor will be for TC so they may be willing to give us a 4th.

There is no way we get more than a 4th and probably a 5th. Gordon has yet to stay heathly and even when he is he is only a marginal back. No way is he in the class of Henry.

Unless one of the Falcon backs get hurt, there is not another GM in the league that would give a first day pick for a back when they know we will probably have to cut one of them anyway. I for one would keep Harris over Gordon. Heck for that matter Gordon is not really a very big upgrade over Toefield. Some of these homers around here have to get a clue. Come on guys lets be realistic.:shakeno:
