Merged: Lamar Gordon to Jacksonville?

The only reason STL got a 3rd for Gordon is b/c we were DESPERATE!!! If Shaun Alexander is out there for a 2nd and there are no takers, there's no way Gordon's value is a 3rd rounder... we'll get a 5th TOPS, and we should take it

No one wants Alexander because teams don't want to pay big money for a running back. If Alexander was signed at 3 more years at no more then $2-3 million a year he would have been traded for that 1st rounder.

How do you know we can't get anything higher than a 5th? Do you see into the future? Let's say SA is on the trading block for a second and we announce we want a 3rd for Gordon. You automatically think they're going to trade for SA? Why? Do you know how much SA makes compared to Gordon? Believe it or not, teams consider the salary cap. I'm not saying we're going to get a 3rd. What I'm saying is, you can't compare other players with trades. It's a different situation for every player and team.

Sorry folks. There are no more Speilmans around to give up a third round picks for a backup. As White said our RB situation looks good on paper but think about it.Brown is unproven.Ricky might not like the contract offered and change his mind again and even if he does come back we dont know if he will be the same quality back. The other guys are fill-ins or unproven.

I agree, you gave up a 3rd for Lamar.

Keep dreaming if the jags will be desperate enough to give you guys a 3rd . It's not like Taylor quit to smoke pot. They'll probably offer you a 3rd for RW but not Lamar.

I would give up RW for a 3rd.

You forget one thing here. Alexander wants a huge huge payday! That's why the Colts, and the Hawks were willing to part ways with them for cheap.

Gordon is a pretty good talent, that has a low low salary. His value to teams strapped with the cap might not be as high as Alexander, but it's not out of the question that could be just a little lower. Such as a third or fourth.

WOW!!!!

Hell, we should ask them if they want Ricky!!!....

They can have him for a the low-low price of a 2006 2nd round pick....

PHINZ RULE!!!

Ricky' value is worth a few bongs and some Chips ahoy as of right now.

Stuill it is intresting if the rumors are true about Gordon.

I don't think he's garner higher than a fourth as of right now, however I do see that rising with a productive training camp, a strong pre season and so on...

What about Gordon for David Gerrard?

It makes perfect sense for J-ville. I don't think Taylor and his big ego could have co-existed with Henry and his desire to be a starter.
Gordon is a good back and a team player. I think he's a perfect backup player (maybe more). If given a chance I think he could be better than Lamont Jordan.

I say let Gordon compete in a system he is familiar with and bolster his trade value for next year. Why get a 4th or 5th for him now when we could possibly get more next year?

Gordon is in a good situation here, great backs to compete with will make him better. He also has a chance to beat out Ricky as Ronnie's backup.

He's in the last year of his deal. If he qualifies and Miami has a net loss of free agents, he could lead to a comp pick in 07 that would depend on the value of his deal. Why deal with all of those variables when the team can reap the sweet reward of a pick in 2006 now?

I think a trade for gordon would be great. ronnie will sign and be a great back. ricky will play at least this year for the dolphins and they will clear him from paying back $8 million. that leaves sammy morris, kj harris and travis minor. trade him for 3rd, 4th or 5th round. our defense is getting old. we need future draft picks to keep the team in balance. we will have plenty of backs. barring any major injuries ronnie brown will be here for a while and maybe even ricky. i believe the dolphins can have their way with him because he owes them $8.6 million!!! run him alot (run-ricky-run!!!!). run him till he:cry:.his contract is a big question though. he won't play for league minimum. sign two years $2 million and don't have to pay back $8.6 million or trade him next year.

I didn't know he was in the last year of his contract.

But, we are probably Imo going to need Gordon early in the season. If the Ricky situation doesn't pan out and Brown is still unsigned that leaves us with Harris and Minor. Very rarely does a team have the luxury of 3 good backs as we do. Why risk putting ourselves in the same predicament as last year.

We are also assuming Brown and Ricky stay healthy (god forbidd, Knocks on wood).
