MERGED: Lance Schulters to visit the Fish

Hell, I'd dump both Tillman and Edwards to add Schulters. We've got several players we can dump to open up some space....

Adding Schulters is a MUST SIGNING IMO. We're not going to find a better option than him this off-season. We are desperate at Safety, and he's a legit starter that could come in right away and make a difference on defense....

If we end up passing on Schulters due to lack of cap space, I'll be very upset. Saban should have really thought twice about guys like Tillman / Edwards because of these types of situations where better players become available....

PHINZ RULE!!!

David Bowens is the perfect cut though IMO. We are rediculously deep at DE for him to be makin a lil over 2 million this year. I mean... I am glad we have kept him around so far, since we havent needed the space... but as soon as we need some, Bowens should be the one on the chopping block...

Nasty

JJs 4-3 was based on the coverage sack making shutdown corners a high priority. Sabans 3-4 is based on reducing the QBs time in the pocket making DEs the priority. CBs dont seem to be as big of a need in this defense as having good safeties. At least thats what I see in the Pats Dbackfield as they rotated a WR in at CB but spent to keep a guy like Harrison around.

I wonder if we can trade Bowens for anything, he did have 7 sacks last year

Na... especially this late in the year. Teams will know that we would just cut him if we couldnt get anything for him...
So teams would not have to give anything up for him as well as they could sign him to a new cheaper contract because he isnt worth 2+ million...

Hold up is that Lance Schulter's MUG SHOT on the front page of Finheaven? :rofl3:

We need to drop Williams and Tillman and sign Schulters.

He's visiting the Fish? I know the Marlins are struggling, but they don't need an outfielder THAT badly.

They're in the middle of re-structuring David Bowen's contract.

Bowens is too productive to be cut. Besides, he was running with the first team D in mini-camp and did very well in the new system.

If we sign Schulters, cut someone else.

I thought Bowens refused to rework his contract? In any event, with Roth, Holliday, and even Carter to put at DE? Why does Bowens need to be here at nearly $2 million?

The moment we need cap space, he should be gone...

No he should not be. Kevin Carter is going to play mostly inside.

If we get Manuel Wright, then that could change.

Vonnie Holliday was playing inside during mini camp also. We need more depth at DE than you think. What if there is an injury?

Let's go Nick, get this deal done! We need this guy in our backfield! I hope Kevin Carter is in Nick's ear, and telling him to make it happen!

We already have a crowded enough backfield as it is!

Surely you mean secondary.
