MERGED: Larry Johnson resigned!

and Tiki goes "waaaaaah" again.

Hah!!! Nice sig, btw. I know it's a joke (maybe), but I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of calls went against us Monday night.

Anyways, interesting move to resign Johnson. I wonder who they are getting rid of...probably one of the tight ends. I just hope Johnson still has gas left. in that tank cuz we may need him to pick up some hard-nosed yards on occasion.

I'm happy with this move. I was a little surprised they cut him in the first place. his means we'll have some vet presence for blocking, and a proven between the tackles runner.

Just more versatility from the RB position.

Great move! LJ can pound the rock between the tackles and is a nice stop gap in case of injury!

after the NE game so his salary is not guaranteed or before the NE game?

Id assume after. Not sure why they'd cut him and then bring him back before week 1.

what ? yo no comprende

A vested verteran's salary for the year is guaranteed if he is on the roster to begin the season. If he is singed after the season begins, his salary is not guaranteed.

wow.

Who got cut?

I guess after the few days of practice they realize that Thomas and Hilliard are no good as backups?

I bet they cut Larry in hopes of signing someone else. When that person didn't come available they resigned johnson.

I believe they are using Hilliard as a fullback. You can't go into a season with only 2 RB's. My guess is that they were planning on signing another RB following cut day. They obviously felt that LJ was the best available FA, so they re-signed him.

I'm beginning to worry Ireland's use of our 2nd round pick may be a bit of a whiff. It's much too early for concern, and the O-line problems confound any reasonable analysis, but man, you sure don't want to see a late bloomer with a 2nd round pick at a position where it's fairly easy to contribute early (look at most of the other rookie RBs).

LJ is good insurance, but concerning that they re-signed him so soon after cutting him. Since there aren't any salary benefits to doing so before week 1 is over, this makes me think DT hasn't been up to whatever offensive plays they've been installing for NE.

I think Clay goes.

Not a good sign for Thomas. I loved him coming out to be fair. However, he has the staff nervous I think.
