MERGED: Larry Johnson resigned!

I'm beginning to worry Ireland's use of our 2nd round pick may be a bit of a whiff. It's much too early for concern, and the O-line problems confound any reasonable analysis, but man, you sure don't want to see a late bloomer with a 2nd round pick at a position where it's fairly easy to contribute early (look at most of the other rookie RBs).

LJ is good insurance, but concerning that they re-signed him so soon after cutting him. Since there aren't any salary benefits to doing so before week 1 is over, this makes me think DT hasn't been up to whatever offensive plays they've been installing for NE.

Blowing 2nd round picks is the Dolphins specialty

Is that how desperate we are? It seems to me we're going to be in the bottom 5 in rushing this year. Henne better be prepared to carry this offense. The good news? I think he is.

I think Clay goes.

Not a good sign for Thomas. I loved him coming out to be fair. However, he has the staff nervous I think.

One can argue he's exactly the type of player that WOULD have this staff nervous. DT is a guy who needs a lot of touches to heat up. This regime is especially focused on players who are ready for their ROLE when called upon, whether that's one play or forty. The coaching philosophy of this regime doesn't have patience for a guy who needs to "heat up" or "plays better when the lights come on." They want to see it in practice, and they want to see it on ONE carry if that's all you're given. Of course they're worried.

The only signing we could make to stay out of the bottom 5 in rushing would be Barry Sanders in his prime. It doesn't matter who we throw out behind this atrocious o line.

I agree. Early days but it sounds like they were expecting a whole lot more out of Daniel Thomas. Just reading the draft magazines they said he was weak in blocking and while he's 230lbs and 6' tall, don't expect a power runner. My hunch is that they were wanting to draft Mikel Leshore and when Detroit selected him they panicked and traded up for Thomas.

I bet they cut Larry in hopes of signing someone else. When that person didn't come available they resigned johnson.

I believe this is the case also. There just wasn't any better options. He didn't play too badly against scrubs last Thursday.

But we picked up 2 guys with a boatload of talent (Bush & Johnson)... but have issues staying healthy.

We could be in trouble before you know it.

awesome...:rolleyes2:

if daniel thomas loses carrys to this has been...ugh

Lol we are going to absolutely suck running the ball. Reggie Bush is our feature back. A guy who hasn't rushed for more than 600 yards in his entire 6 year career. And now we re-sign Johnson as insurance towards our unproven rookie. A guy who hasn't been productive since 2007.

Why couldn't these idiots just spend the money on Bradshaw? Why?

we're better off playing a man down than putting spitler on the field at ilb...

lol, I probably agree with this...letting go of Edds instead of Spitler was baffling. Maybe they mixed up their "cut white ILB" buttons.

Hmm...

Theres alot of crying from kids here that dont recognize the new offensive system we will be running.

Daboll is running a Pats style offense which makes Reggie a HUGE comodity.

We won't be running the ball much at all, sure LJ gives good insurance, but lets face it, the fact that we kept 6 WR's on the roster screams only one thing, that we will be a shotgun offense 80% of the time.

Glad I got Reggie on my fantasy team.

Reggie and Bess in the slot option. Can't wait.

You guys are stuck in the 2009 playbook where we smashed our way down the field with the R&R express.

Welcome to the new age gentlemen
