MERGED: Marshall playing for worst QB of career? Really??

OK, so you would take Orton over Henne this year?

From page 2:

...

Now... Orton looses Marshall this year and Henne gets him, so Henne SHOULD be able to make a huge leap. I'd take Henne for sure if it were between him and Orton... based on what I think will happen this year. Henne has a MUCH larger upside than Orton, however... up until week 1 of this season, what that guy said in the article is correct... statistically speaking

I think the big disconnect in this thread is people confusing fantasy stats with actual QB quality (win-losses) in real life. If I'm an NFL coach and I have a choice between Orton, Cutler, and Henne for the next 10 years... I'm taking Henne all the way. In Fantasy football though where I need points from yards and TDs... I could care less about wins vs losses and interceptions... I'd take Cutler if I had my choice between the 3 for THIS YEAR only.

Had the dude said the same thing in an article on ESPN.com about the Marshall trade... meaning nothing to do with Fantasy Football... I'd call him a quack for sure. But in FFB yards and TDs are king regardless of wins/losses and potential. Just to put it in prospective... based on last year's stats, Alex Smith finished just 4 points overall behind Henne in my League, whereas Orton finished within 15 points of Joe Flacco and Kurt Warner... so clearly... fantasy points do not equal actual QB quality in the NFL. By the way Cutler was ahead of them all.

to this point Orton and Cutler have been better. I love how its so obvious that Henne is better on this board of course lol

i think orton is way better than henne. cutler throws so many pics and is so streaky i'd have to say him and henne are about even

From ESPN AFC East blog.

Barnwell writes:
People are underestimating the contextual shift for Marshall. He's playing with the worst quarterback of his career now (although this changes if Chad Pennington ends up with the starting job at some point during the year). He's on a team that runs the ball a large percentage of the time, and he's in a division with the league's toughest group of pass defenses. There just aren't 165 targets in the hopper.

I find this funny since there have been 284 passes attempted to 217 rushing attempts or 57% passing to 43% rushing. As compared to the Colts who have 351 pass attempts to 201 rushing attempts or 64% to 36%. A difference of 7% in the passing game, yeah we are a real pound the ball running attack offense this year.

Orton Vs. Henne. Is this thread really that old? Or did we just fail to make any progress in one years time? Did I just come out of a coma?

A year later and "3 and Out Orton" still sucks. Just ask 90% of the fans who watch his every move. Cutler doesn't though and the verdict is still mostly out on Henne

Nice bumping this from one year ago.

Delete this thread, please moderators?

This always happens and people are offended by bumping of older predictions and threads.. I find it kind of funny. Much better than a pats troll laughing at our D-line by simple typing, "Wilfork, Ellis, Haynesworth" and having it at the top of the forum with 6 pages of absolute garbage.

I still stand by what I said. I've never liked Cutler and I still think Henne has more upside than Orton. At the time, Orton was better than Henne.
