Merged: Matt Flynn to Seattle

I'm not sure why it's so hard to comprehend why you would talk to a player in FA and have a set number you are not willing to go beyond. The Patriots do this all the time.

The reason you bring him in is because you want him for a certain price. Again, I would think that price was set based off of Philbin's opinion of Flynn. I may be wrong. Maybe Ireland is a secret Nazi and just does w/e the F he wants based off of inner voices. You guys may actually have something there. lol

You are entitled to your opinion, my opinion is Ireland seems to have a multi-layered plan and refuses to sway from that plan in a significant way. Even if that means the Dolphin fan base continues to act like children.
I'm not sure why it's so hard to comprehend that they wouldn't have bothered at all if Philbin wasn't high on him. A direct inside source to his ability as a QB isn't high on him, but you bring him in anyways? Makes no sense. None. Ireland has a plan alright, and it ****ing sucks. Just like his plan last year and every year he's been here.

And the only fans acting like children are the homers that continue to suck at the teat of the Dolphins FO, which can do no wrong in their eyes.

If philbin thought flynn was worth it he would've gotten paid, its that simple...teams bring in players and don't sign them all the time because they can't come to an agreement on the contract....

Flynn sucks neway I'm so happy we didn't get him

There are some things to consider.

Maybe Philbin wasn´t high on Flynn, maybe he was and Ireland lowballed him, maybe Sherman is more sold on Tannenhill than Philbin was on Flynn. Maybe Flynn didn´t want to face Brady and Revis 4x a season. I think They are praying that Cleveland drafts Tannenhill so that they have an excuse not to go after him.

We will never know the truth and whatever they say we will consider lie or truth based on our own perceptions.

IMO the Ross/Ireland combo passed an image of ineptitude from the start failing to land Harbaugh, before that everything was Huizenga/Parcells regime, after that they were after Fisher and Ross even said he wasn´t going to be outbid on that one and failed to land yet another coach. They settled for Philbin.

The inability to land a coveted free agent falls in the GMs lap every time and it should! They couldn´t even schedule a meeting with Manning, Marino had to step in.

It is true that the other than the Packers, Miami had more information than pretty much every team on the league, but the question remains, Was Philbin not sold on him or Ireland lowballed him and he called Miami´s bluff with Seattle´s offer?

We will never know...

They thought Flynn was worth it but they also had a price tag on him. At 9 mil per year, he is not worth it.

I believe they had internal conversations that put a limit as to what they would pay

Nobody said the Front Office ca do no wrong. Were just not getting our panties in a wad over everything.

Why bring him in then? Why not go after Smith or Garrard, or whoever their answer is in the first place? You simply can't answer that.

I'm not hurt they didn't bring him in. Hell, at this point I'm for going in with Moore as I don't see much of an improvement over him with Flynn, Smith, or Garrard. No reason to bring in any of them if you don't have an interest. Maybe Garrard as a backup? But who cares who we have at backup. Might as well be a rookie since we will not be competing for a playoff spot this year. If Moore takes the next step and becomes a good starter rather than a great backup, awesome. We're set. If not, we don't have a long-term contract with him and can move on with a deep QB draft next year, and hopefully no Jeff Ireland.

If they had any interest, it's because Philbin thought he had potential to be a starter. They wouldn't have brought him in if Philbin "wasn't high on him." They wouldn't have started going after Smith only after it looked like Flynn was going to Seattle. They struck out again and now we're on to plan C.

 Hard to have your panties in a wad when they're on the ground allowing the FO full access.

I love how anytime somebody expresses a negative view it's considered whining and crying. Some of us just know more about the game. No need to be so jealous when we're right every year.

Maybe they brought him in but didn't feel he was worth that price, they made an offer and flynn went where he was getting more money from....its not like his phone was ringing off the hook, he got an offer from seattle...got an offer from miami...and he got a better offer in seattle and took it...it goes to show scouts who watch actual film (not youtube highlight videos) didn't think he's a franchise qb, hell he didn't even get promised a starting job

Hahahahaha the crybabies know more than people who don't b*tch and moan about everything? People got more important sh*t going on in their lives than to spend all day complaining on the internet about the same thing over and over. Just cuz we don't b*tch doesn't mean we love mediocrity or like every move the team makes blindly...I don't enjoy losing but I'm not a whiny little b*tch, never was and I'm not gonna become one just to fit in with the popular crowd on finheaven.

Damn, Gonzo has claimed ownership of this thread. That's some quality posting. He's leaving a trail of broken intellects behind him.

You'll notice that when I responded to your post, it was a basic, non-incendiary discussion. I responded in like to your reasonable response. His on the other hand deserved it's own like response. Then you go and ruin it...

That being said, isn't exactly what you are doing in this post whining and bitching about how others respond to the team's moves? No need to be a hypocrite. Any critical statement about the FO (and well deserved critical statement after 3 losing seasons) is considered "whining" and "crying" and it's ****ing ridiculous. Look, just because we don't want to give the FO a BJ after every decision like some, doesn't mean we're "whining" and "crying." If you don't want differing opinions, check else where. There are plenty of sites where homers circle jerk to every move the team makes. If you want to have discussions about the team as you and I were just in the posts before, then this is the place for you.

I got my first dislike today! It felt great!

It is a very simple concept to understand.

Matt Flynn, at (for example) 3 mil a year is exactly what the Dolphins want.

Matt Flynn, at 9 mil a year is not what the Dolphins want.

They had enough interest in Matt Flynn to bring him in and see what he can do, but they were not going to overpay him. How is this hard to understand? They had interest, but not at 9 mil.

Matt Flynn did not turn us down, we turned down Matt Flynn. We "lowballed" him because we offered what we were willing to pay him. Not because we are cheap or stupid, but because they put a value on his head and Seattle simply was way over that value. So, sorry Flynn, we are not going to match or offer more. So Flynn goes to SEA.

Very simply concept. I am on the first train ride along with everyone else to say the truth and criticize our FO, but this is not one of those times.

As for the tweets, just sounds like a prima donna who got insulted at our offer and is bad mouthing us as a result. Don't care. He's acting like a baby.
