Merged: Matt Flynn to Seattle

And anyone who thinks we are goint to sit at 8 and wait for Tannehill is sniffing pure Columbian Coffee. We are not the only QB needy team high on him. We will have to give away the equivalent to the Marshall picks just to secure him.

This offseason has truly done some damage to us in future free agent moves. It doesn't matter who we'll want. It's who we can get to come here. And we'll have to start overpaying to remedy this problem. And we'll whine and pout 'cause FA's aren't visiting with us and wonder why.

This is the slow, cruel and painful continued destruction of a once proud franchise. There's no excuse for this type of professional conduct.

This is not whether philbin wanted him or not. This is all Ireland. Philbin can only say of he is good or not. If Ireland is going to lowball everyone we will never sign anyone. We are in a terrible spot now. Can't draft a qb at 8 so we will need to trade up. This is getting pathetic. I hope they have a great plan and it works cause I am tired of 8 and 8 football.

Umm so if Philbon said he's not what he considers to be a franchise QB, what then?

You kind of contradict yourself there, like so many of Dolphin fans on this MBoard are doing.

And the funny part is that Alex Smith turned down a contract that's gonna pay him 8-9 a year for 3 years...

Ireland will probably offer him a contract for only 5 a year....

And if he and Philbin thinks A. Smith is a better QB for the system, who are you to say they are wrong?

Smith isn't coming here. That meeting was to get Flynn to lower his price, it failed.

If that's the case than that is the most egregious display of ineptitude this FO has displayed yet. If they thought that Flynn was a franchise qb and decided to test their luck by bringing in smith to see if they can get a better deal than that is borderline criminal and warrants an instant firing. You don't F around if you think someone is your guy. You pay him and get him as quick as possible. I don't know if Flynn was the answer but if our FO thought he was and blew it my trying to play hardball, they surpass the speilman era in spades when it comes down to franchise killers

Yep, nobody on here is allowed to say anything remotely negative about our FO and any moves/non-moves we make!! God forbid we have an opinion seperate from that which is decreed to us. Please. Why is it that everyone around the league laughs at our FO, but a certain percentage of our fans think everyone else doesn't know what they are talking about?

Rational thoughts would be nice, IMO anyway.

Making all kinds of assertions like this isn't on Philbin this is all Ireland when no one knows what REAL opinion Philbin actually had/has of Flynn.

And if he and Philbin thinks A. Smith is a better QB for the system, who are you to say they are wrong?
Smith has been available this whole time. Why are they just now meeting with him? They were willing to risk another team signing him while pursuing Manning and Flynn? Please. He's the backup backup plan. Plan C. Plan D is Garrard vs. Moore, which means we'll likely end up with Plan E: Matt Moore and a mid-round rookie QB.

This message board is funny. If we got Matt Flynn people would be going crazy with 30 pages threads "Finally we got our guy! 10 year franchise quarterback. Screw Manning, etc"

Instead we have people trying to justify another loss as "Philbin didn't want him" What about Flynn chosing Seattle over Miami? Sure we can beat most everybody with our winter weather BUT what about everything else? Obviously money is usually the most important factor but Seattle has an amazing stadium, atmosphere, fan support, top notch facilities, a players coach, respected gm, the richest owner in the nfl far and away, etc. Far as quality of life, let's face it, moving from Wisconsin to Seattle is a major upgrade. They also have some pretty damn good receivers to throw to: Rice, Williams, Tate, Baldwin. Losing Marshall was a big blow for us

I think Dolphin fans just assume everybody wants to play here because of weather or the beach. I think that's a major misconception, as we've seen almost everybody reject us the past 3 years. (regardless of how much we pay)

seattle gives him a better chance to win games

the presence of the jets and patriots in the division is hurting the dolphins franchise big time when it comes to landing prime players and the fact the bills are improving is adding even more hardship to miami

Alex Smith vs the Giants played scared. He has had one game of note in his career. Pass on Alex Smith. I heard on the radio that we were kicking the tires on David Garrard. If that is so, then we truly do not have a plan and are in more trouble than I thought this morning.

Hmm let's see, they weren't willing to offer Flynn the amount of money he felt he deserved, for whatever reason, so they called A. Smith to inform Flynn and his agent, by their actions they have other options.

It's seems abundantly clear to me, Philbin wasn't as high on Flynn as we were. Of course that's just my opinion, however an opinion based on the facts as we know it. Not an over emotional reaction that some ppl have been posting on this MBoard since Manning turned us down. People just need to grow up, and realize this is the real world, and you can't get whatever you want. In fact, most times you don't get half of what you want.

And I agree, A. Smith is Plan C. I don't have an issue with that. I'm glad they thought that far ahead. The main point is, what does Philbin really think of Flynn. By their actions, again, IMO, not as high as a lot of Miami Dolphin fans.
