MERGED: Michael Sam to be First Openly Gay Player - Okay w/ Phins drafting him?

After a decade Of mediocrity and mediocre players if he can play draft him...could be a steal too

My question is locker room effect. How will players react to someone who is physically attracted to them? It's equivalent to women and men in the same locker room undressing in front of one another. Can players handle this? Some will and some won't.

You didnt even watch the game bro. Those of us who were watching, were looking for you that day to break down the film for us.

oh so cause i wasn't here i didn't watch it...the hell i didnt...i watched it and the practices multiple times even

I believe he's a little bit undersized for a defensive lineman at the next level. Also I think you're selling short the significance of this announcement and the hesitation many NFL executives and head coaches will have to willingly attach themselves to such a polarizing topic. In blunt terms, many expect a huge drop in Sam's draft stock.

This kid is showing a hell of a lot more courage than any of the anonymous sources in that article that don't have the balls to have their names attached their name to their quotes.

@jnewmant: Very good point. Perhaps he did want to get out ahead of the story. That's fine. But i just heard on bspn, that he's proud to tell his story. Which brings me back around to this pointless nonsense being a needless distraction. And that's something we have no use for. I dont care that he's gay. And if that'd be the secondary issue, then fine, but it isn't. Its his sexual preference 1st. The actual player 2nd. Nothing but a distraction.
Well of course he's proud to tell his story, if he goes on to have a moderately successful nfl career he stands to make a trillion dollars off of his story. book deals, blind side style movie, made for tv movie to follow it up. every gay nfl fan will buy one of his jerseys, hell, he could come out with some lance armstrong bracelets that are rainbow striped and sell a billion of them. In all fairness though of course it's his sexual preference first, because he isn't like a majority of other nfl players. he could definitely be a distraction but with good leadership in the locker room he may not be. That's why we should never draft him though, we are devoid of leadership in the locker room. We couldn't handle it.

Had to turn off ESPN because they are going completely over board with this. Its the PC/Progressive/Liberal crowd having their issue ad. A player doing this before the combine/draft, for the media, is not something I care for. But as a KU basketball fan, and hearing the MIZZOU fans in years past call us out as Gayhawks....if only they were still in the BIG 12.:ponder:

I'm not advocating drafting him only because he doesn't fit a need for us, but from a business standpoint, it might actually make a lot of sense for a team in a city with a large gay community to draft him if that team is having trouble selling tickets.

I'm not drafting a distraction to sell tickets to the 2%. It is amazing how the gay agenda is being pushed by the media these days. Every other story is gay this, gay that.

how do you know he is attracted to anyone in the locker room? Are you automatically attracted to every woman you meet? Do you have friends who are girls that you dont automatically get a raging hard on when you look at them or do you have so much testosterone that every woman is a potential mate?

Do you have any gay friends? But just like you dont get hard for every woman you meet, the same is true for this kid...

As u said, some will handle it some will not...but for the most part, the players will really care if he can help them win a game...

It takes ABSOLUTELY no courage in today's media to come out. NONE. He is now a cause celebrity. He is now famous for one thing, and it isn't play on the football field.

.

Do you have any gay friends? Judging from your post, Id say no. But just like you dont get hard for every woman you meet, the same is true for this kid...
Every woman and one out of every 52 women are completely different things. Chances are there will be at least one other person in the locker room he is attracted to. I am definitely attracted to at least one out of every 52 women i meet.

got to agree with this...the only thing people on his team will care about is if he can help them win games...

it would take courage if ESPN was screaming about how disgusting he is for coming out...

It took courage for jackie robinson to move up to MLB...If you cant see the difference thats on you...

but you can control yourself not to rip their clothing off right???

I'm pretty sure this kid can too...

Well at least we got rid of the boob in the front office that would embarrass us in the interview process should they decided to bring Sam in for a interview.

Not so fast, there are rumors that Hickey was the guy who asked Nick Kasa if he liked women last year...

how do you know he is attracted to anyone in the locker room? ...

Well if I was in a locker room of naked fit women I'm sure I would be attracted to some of them. Normal guys are attracted to what they see, I assume it is the same for gay ones.

He's the first player to come out before the draft.

Unlike you, someone sits in fear behind a monitor and talks about this being PC/liberal media, and whatever other bs you can come up with to make yourself feel like some sort of victim, sam Actually has legit fears of being a victim and for him to put it all on the line for everyone to see, is a very big deal.

You will never in your life ever face anything like this. Show some damn respect.
