Good for you, but we have done it your way for 20 years and gone nowhere. Time to quit screwing around and take our medicine so we actually have real hope next year. You like 7-9 every year? Not me.

Rooting for my team has nothing to do with the coach, gm or owner. I don't like 7-9 anymore than anyone else does. I'm not the one who is rooting for my team to lose for a chance to improve. You don't have to have the #1 overall pick to improve the team.

too improve slightly? your right.

However, franchise qbs do not grow on trees, and a guy like andrew luck is rare. the only way we will obtain a franchise qb is through the draft, and the only one worthy of losing out for is luck.

If it was barkley or jones top prospect, and we were still as crappy as we are currently, id still love for us to win, because although those guys may become solid pros, they will not be anywhere near luck material.

Yeah 2-14! We beat the Jets!!

If you don't get it, you just don't get it. We now draft Ryan Leaf, the leftover next best guy after the guy we really wanted. SMART!!!

The question is what is better for our team long term - winning 1 meaningless game against the most hated toe-sucking Jets vs being in the best position to draft a the best prospect to come along since P. Manning? I'll take that chance every time.

The only time I will root for this team to lose is week 17 and it's 1-15 and a guaranteed Luck, versus a 2-14 and we have to hope and pray.

Now that would be a conundrum...Let them win this one game and we will kick their *** for a decade...

If I'm the jets and out of the playoffs, I let the phins win the last game to stimey the chances they get Luck.

If it happens that we lose enough games to draft the guy we want, then it happens. Me rooting for it to happen has no bearing on whether it happens or not. Since that is the case, I will never root for losses. I want to win, and I don't want to be the worst team in all of football. Luck may be the best prospect since Manning, but I'm sure other teams thought that about other players as well. Nothing is guaranteed.

QBs taken #1 overall since 98:

1998: Peyton Manning (Indianapolis)
1999: Tim Couch (Cleveland)
2001: Michael Vick (Atlanta)
2002: David Carr (Houston)
2003: Carson Palmer (Cincinnati)
2004: Eli Manning (San Diego)
2005: Alex Smith (San Francisco)
2007: JaMarcus Russell (Oakland)
2009: Matthew Stafford (Detroit)

Maybe you get a Manning, but maybe you don't. Maybe you get a A.Smith instead of an A. Rodgers. I don't like those odds enough to root against my team. Root for the Jets, Pats and Bills all you want. Don't expect me to call you a good fan.

Don't save the Dolphins, they don't wanna be saved.

because the amount I cheer in my basement has no bearing on the result of the game, I will root for the fins. But I will be expecting a loss, and okay with a loss

Regardless if I'm pro Suck for Luck, I can't cheer when the opposing team is doing good, no matter what my head tells me. In a perfect season, we get the #1 pick with a 3-13 record, with a sweep of the Jets, and a win vs the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

I'm not a SFLer but I don't care/apathetic for every game this year except for Jets games. In fact, this season I root harder for whoever the Jets are playing than I do for the Phins, so its gonna be pretty easy to root for the Phins next week.

This whole Luck dynamic could get pretty interesting week 17 if the Jets are out of the playoffs and we're still in contention for the number 1 pick. The Jets fans will be rooting for us to win and we'll be rooting for them.
I could even see that scumbag Rex Ryan try to lose the game on purpose to screw us. Yeah the whole NFL could turn into a big circus towards the end of the season.

I can't believe I share the same site with (currently) 23 people who aren't gonna be screaming their lungs out, "**** the Jets!!!"

:bobdole:
