Merged: NFL Live to talk about Ricky Now/Opinions on His Return

I agree with you. Wany and his entire system was exposed for being garbage. Last season sucked but without it, I fear we would be the same ole Dolphins-outside looking in.

True... gotta admit, to get rid of Wanny and Jay in the same season is priceless

not sure if you heard this or not, but John Clayton on ESPNews said that Schulters has been only offered the minimun by every team, so hes in no rush to sign

Exactly... we'll snatch him up still

Not many can "forget" what Ricky did to the team. However many did "forget" what he did FOR the team....
Williams rushed for 3,225 yards and 25 touchdowns in his two seasons with the team.

I know, the two don't wash. But should he regain this type of play, his past would soon be forgotten by most. I guess its the old "what have you done for me lately" gig.

if he comes back in finishes his contract out, he is not going to have to pay back all of the 8.5 million maybe of percent of it or maybe everybody kisses and makes up after two years

What about what the team did for him?

They traded two high picks for him. They restructured his contract, which he was to play for the league minimum. That alone allowed him to take home over 5 million dollars. They did everything he wanted. Catered to his need of 20-25 carries a game.

What he did was nice, but what he did, was nothing in comparison. He did what he was paid to do. Yet no playoffs, much less a Super Bowl........

He's a coward, who cannot face adversity in the face.

For the person that said for the vet minumum...why even come back... because he can slowly work his way back from debt. in addition one break out season and the dolphins can forgive the debt and still only pay vet min for cap reasons. so in essence we can pay him 8 mil over a few years and only take a cap hit for the minumum each year. I am not positive but I pretty sure that we can do that keeping the salary cap down and still forgive the debt hes in.

No we all won't. I will never forgive him no matter how many yards he gets. I'm not going into the "he said Wannstedt ran him into the ground."

Like I've said a million times before, to me, it's not all about winning. It's about respect and how he made the Dolphins look like laughing stocks, and we were all talking about it on this message board when he quit, in the NFL.

I never want to see him in a Dolphins uniform again. Again, that's my personal opinion. I would rather win with integrity than win with him.

And I disagree with you about the fans. How much money have the fans spent on his t-shirts, bobbleheads, jerseys, etc. He owes them something - at the very least, an apology, which he refused to give on his 60 minutes interview.

Man, for one after about week 11 last year I forgave Ricky. I came to the swift realization that this guy did anything but screw over this franchise. We were way more than one running back away from winning it all. Big deal if we went 10-6 again. All that would do is keep the same coach, the same gm, the same mentallity and the team would just suffer the same slow death as the veterans age without ever having a "real" shot at winning the superbowl. Plus even if he did screw over this franchise that is his choice. I think I am going to get alot of flak for this but he is a human and believe it or not you dont own him. If he thinks his body is not going to make it to 55 because of the beating he took at 27 than that is his choice to retire. Eric Dickerson was the only running back ever to have back to back seasons like Ricky (carries wise) and still go on with a productive career. I cant blame the guy for quitting, I can blame him for doing it on the eve of training camp. We could of had Stephen Jackson last year if he just told us after the season ended, but whats done is done.

Ricky williams is by far the best back in dolphins recent history and potentially the best back in the nfl and dolphins history. he has some issues no doubt, but if the boy can get straight and wants to play hold on to him. He is the best back on the team. i think ronnie brown will be good, but not as good as ricky williams. ricky is a stud running back. wanny was going to run him in the ground and he knew it. i don't blame him for leaving. i do not respect him for being on dope though. and seth mckinney needs to worry about himself and the o-line. they stink. i don't think he will play for league minimum and have to pay back the $8.6 million. Come monday when everyone sees him run it will all be over about him leaving. it will be all smiles that he is back. remember last year???? I would restructure ricky's contract. sign him three years for $3 million. if he fails any drug tests or leaves or any of that garbage again then let him go and make him pay back $8.6 million. if he stays and does well don't make him pay it back. Sign ronnie brown for 2 years and $4 million. who knows what kind of nfl back he is going to be. we need a qb!!!!! and a vast improvement on our o-line!!! (that is my opinion)

All them excuses, and not once did you mention the real reason he turned his coat inside out!! Not one mention of his pending suspension for violating the NFL substance abuse policy 3 times.

You are right though. He is human, and for that I hope he recovers, but what I do own, is the right to say that I do not think he deserves the riches of the NFL. Especially when he acts like he owes nothing to no one! May his selfish (_)_) live long and prosper selling cars........

Okay - I see I'm not going to win this argument. So, as I said in many posts before, I don't want him back - I would rather go 4 and 12 again than have him back. Having said that I am now going to hang my head in shame.

So your happy with 4-12 team??
Thats pretty lame.

Lame? I think not. Yes I'm very happy with 4 and 12 as long as its a RW-less team.

I have been a Dolphin fan for many years and have never had to endure the shame I had to when he "retired" (quit to smoke ganja, live in a tent, shirk his responsibility to his children as well as his teammates, yada, yada).

I wear my Dolphin gear all year long, offseason as well as during the season. Hence the ridicule we got (and I don't believe you didn't get any) after this jerk quit on the team.

And there are many people on this board, as well as friends and family who are also Dolphins who agree with me. Just as there are many people who agree with you.

Allow me my own opinion and don't call me lame Steve.
