Merged: NFL Live to talk about Ricky Now/Opinions on His Return

If this has been posted already im sorry....I just wanted to know what everyones opinion was on ricky coming back?

Ricky has major problems that will resurface again.
He is the typical superstar athlete that thinks the normal rules of life that everyone else lives by don't apply to him.
If a player takes a year off due to injury and works his a$$ off he still struggles to come back and do well. If a player takes a year off and sits in a tent smoking dope he comes back as a nonfactor.

There is a mod on this m.b. that I would rather see have the roster spot!!!!

Man, for one after about week 11 last year I forgave Ricky. I came to the swift realization that this guy did anything but screw over this franchise. We were way more than one running back away from winning it all. Big deal if we went 10-6 again. All that would do is keep the same coach, the same gm, the same mentallity and the team would just suffer the same slow death as the veterans age without ever having a "real" shot at winning the superbowl. Plus even if he did screw over this franchise that is his choice. I think I am going to get alot of flak for this but he is a human and believe it or not you dont own him. If he thinks his body is not going to make it to 55 because of the beating he took at 27 than that is his choice to retire. Eric Dickerson was the only running back ever to have back to back seasons like Ricky (carries wise) and still go on with a productive career. I cant blame the guy for quitting, I can blame him for doing it on the eve of training camp. We could of had Stephen Jackson last year if he just told us after the season ended, but whats done is done.

Good post. I feel similar but not the same, for me it's not that I "forgive" him but more of I'll tolerate his prescence on my team. his football career is what he makes it this time around, there will be no more enablers to coddle him. iF he comes back focused, he's a top tier RB in this league, if he doesn't, he might get himself hurt. The way he ran before and the people he ran over and his actions since have put a huge bullseye on his back when he's on the field. he better be focused or he wont be around long.....

Salisbury and Wingo had a real good wrap-up on Ricky during their SportsCenter segment yesterday. They ripped him for quitting and said he didn't deserve another chance. "But," they said, "what we think doesn't matter. It's what his teammates think that matters."

You will be able to tell that Ricky has reconciled with his teammates if he puts up significant numbers. His success depends on his teammates' support, and if he does well, it's pretty clear to me it would be in no small part due to a reparation in that relationship.

I hated Ricky for what he did to us last year and violently opposed his return. Now that I see it is really happening what can I say? He's here, he's gonna suit up and play, there's nothing I can do about it.

Will I root for him when he's carrying the ball? Of course, he'll get us yards and TD's.

Do I hope he sucks and doesn't start? No, why would I want a member of my team to suck? I hope he helps Ronnie ease into the NFL, keeping both of them fairly fresh throughout the season. I also hope that he does well and makes an impression that other teams notice so we can trade him away next year for something other than a 7th rd pick.

Will I buy another bobble-head to replace the one I decapitated last year? No, no jersey either.

I just hope we have a great season.

Hey Clayton take a pill.
You want frustration think about the teams performance the last 5 years, what about the annual collapse by our overpaid defence, remember losing to the Pats the last game and missing the playoffs.
I can't believe that Ricky not playing would collapse the team, we have been overrated for years and the only player that lived up to his paycheck was Ricky.
800 carries in 2 years please you tell me he didn't play 4 years worth in 2.
Ricky gave more to the Fins than any other player and getting paid less.
Last year Zach and his brother in law made and Madison made over 8 million each and what did we get? 4-12

ill be there every game, hoping he tears both acls and never plays again

That's just wrong, and I'm disappointed in you, NJFinsFan, for encouraging it. :tsk:

Fine, hate Ricky all you want. Wishing him injury is low-class. I don't even do that of hated rivals. But beyond that, what possible good would it do us?
