Merged: Patrick Ramsey?/ I had a dream three years ago..

Ramsey would thrive in Miami. He has a great arm and excellent vision. Hes also very smart and has a nice pocket presence. Unfortunately, he was protected behind some of the worst OL play Ive ever seen in 25 years of watching Football. Thats why hes 'damaged goods' now. But put him in the right situation, and youre talking about a Pro-Bowl caliber QB.

Over the last two years his passing percantage is an impressive 61%. In his career hes thrown for 34 td's and 29 int's - much better than his reputation would have you think. Plus hes only 26. If Brees doesnt pan out (b/c of the injury, signs elsewhere, etc), then Id be all over Patrick Ramsey. In fact, Im still not sure Ramsey isnt a better overall QB target for us than Brees.

Drew Brees. If we can't get him, the we draft a QB and let Gus start til the rook is ready. Ramsey sucks. he would be about as good as Feely was. I think you know what Im getting at
You are missing a clue. I am from the DC area and Ramsey is Good actually very good I would rather have a healthy ramsey than Brees.:rolleyes2

THANK YOU!! People on here get so blinded by the Brees talk they dont realize that Ramsey is very good and has potential to be great. Very Accurate and a RIFLE ARM.

Well, according to the latest revellations from the doctors, it is very similar, at least Chads first shoulder injury. He hasn't come back from that one or the second less severe injury.

Chad was a weak-armed QB that had a rotator cuff and labrum tear originally that never returned to his old self. He tried coming back and whether it was too soon or just bad luck or whatever, he reinjured it and still another year later hasn't returned to anywhere near his previous self.

Brees is a weak-armed QB that had a rotator cuff and labrum tear last year. While it may or may not be as severe as Chads, he stands the same chance of reinjury and of it just plain not coming back as healthy as he was prior to the injury.

The doctor (Andrews, same one who did Chads surgery) has said that he is ahead of schedule and is looking good right now. I remember the same things coming from him on Chad a year and a half ago...

Now, I'm not saying that we shouldn't take a chance on Brees but I will say that the injuries are very similar and Chad still hasn't come back to his old self.

Would you rest your franchise on that ?? I don't know that I would for sure...Will Brees take an incentive ladened first year of his contract to play for the Fins ?? He wouldn't do that for SD, however there is more to the SD situation than just that. I'm just not totally sold on Brees coming back to where he was before...it's a gamble no matter how you spin it...

Ramsey and McCown are both young QBs who need a venue change from their present situations. Both have potential. While neither have been able to realize that potential, they are both strong-armed QBs that would be a sight cheaper than Brees and don't have the injury thing hanging over them.

So the question that Saban has to answer is....Do we take a chance on an expensive Brees who's arm is still healing or do we take a chance on unrealized potential of McCown or Ramsey ??

Highlights:

The letter....seemed to support Chargers General Manager A.J. Smith's assertion that there is more to Brees' injury than initially revealed.

Andrews wrote that Brees “had a successful arthroscopic repair of his shoulder capsule and repair of a partial rotator cuff tear.â€Â

The capsule refers to the labrum tear, which has always been the official word on Brees' injury. But this is the first reference to a rotator cuff tear being repaired in the Jan. 5 procedure performed by Andrews.

Other orthopedic surgeons questioned yesterday said a rotator cuff tear could be considered more severe than just a labrum tear.
But they also said they would be surprised if they saw a professional quarterback or pitcher who did not have a partial tear of the rotator cuff.

“There is going to be wear and tear,†said one.

The doctors, who did not want to be quoted because Brees is not their patient, said Andrews' letter should be taken at face value. They indicated that since Andrews thinks Brees will be ready, he probably will be.

Andrews, a renowned surgeon from Birmingham, Ala., repeated at the end of his letter the prediction that Brees will recover fully and added Brees should “participate at a high level†in 2006.

Other doctors cautioned there is no way to absolutely predict when Brees' shoulder will fully recover.

All Smith has said is that he has “some medical concerns†about Brees' shoulder.

But throwing does not mean passing at full strength, and that timing is what concerns Smith and what has at least factored into the team and player being far apart on the guaranteed dollar amount of a contract

I had a dream 3 years ago....

and for some reason Ramsey was our QB.

Could I be a....prophet?? :allhail:

HAHA, good story Finjim.

But thats now 3 Patrick Ramsey discussions in the top 4 threads. Couldnt you post this in another thread?

;)

For over a year now I've been begging for someone in the Dolphins mind trust to take a long look at Patrick Ramsey. A former #1 draft pick who nearly got killed behind Steve Spurrier's r8tarded fun 'n gun offense, Ramsey is the real deal. He has a great arm, very accurate and needs only some sound coaching to get his wiring back together again.

Getting killed behind terrible o-lines affected his footwork and mechanics. He often now waits too long to make his reads or feels a pass rush that often isn't there. The same thing has happened in the past to guys like Kurt Warner and David Carr.

Coming out of college, Ramsey was every bit as talented as Carr. The difference is coaching. Gary Kubiak rightly believes that, if he can finally give Carr some protection, that'll he be coached up into a Pro Bowl QB. Kubiak would know!

Getting away from Mike Martz, Kurt Warner got a chance to play for a better Giants team and has greatly improved his nearly-destroyed mechanics. He is looking much like his old self again in Arizona (even without a running game!).

I've been saying for months that the two best 'darkhorse' quarterback candidates in the NFL right now are Patrick Ramsey and Billy Volek. Both would surprise anyone who signed them and gave them a chance to shine. The only knock on Volek is his age (30).

Listen, I'd like to see Drew Brees come in here and blow us all away. But I think Finfans are suffering a little bit of 'irrational exuberance' when dreaming of Brees hosting the Lombardi in aqua and orange.

And if he comes here, I want to see him succeed as much as anyone. But the guy had a mediocre arm even before the labrum and rotator cuff surgery. He is smart and accurate but, man, he really is looking a lot like Chad Pennington right now.

What I can't understand is why San Diego would let him walk.
I just don't get it, Rivers hasn't played one game and the Chargers are playoff contenders why would you let Brees go.
He sure didn't look that great against the Fins. comments please.

Well, Hopefully Saban can find a way to sign Drew Brees and Patrick Ramsey.

I had dream last night but I doubt Jessica Alba is going to QB the Phins.....

IF we can't sign BREES [which most likely we do] ... then RAMSEY does become our primary target ... with bringing GUS back ....
