Merged: Patrick Ramsey?/ I had a dream three years ago..

We WON'T sign both ... that would be too much money ... [with or without the draft pick for RAMSEY] ...

The question on RAMSEY is simple ... can he gain his confidence quickly enough in our offense ...

I had a nightmare

What I can't understand is why San Diego would let him walk.
I just don't get it, Rivers hasn't played one game and the Chargers are playoff contenders why would you let Brees go.
He sure didn't look that great against the Fins. comments please.

I think the answer to that question lies in the front office pissing contest going on. The GM wants Rivers and Marty wants Brees...Marty lost when Brees got hurt.

I had dream last night but I doubt Jessica Alba is going to QB the Phins.....
You had a dream about Jessica Alba and you waste it on her being the Phins' QB? What a terrible thing to do!

What's the scoop on him?

I know the Dolphins are interested...is he any good? Good enough to start?

I've only seen him play once or twice...

was it a dream or nightmare?

have you ever sen Ramsey play? he has no idea whats going on. We might as well let Lemon play rather bring in a guy who gets scared and then throws picks. Brees' arm will be fine in a few months, Im not too worried about that

how many games have you seen him play?

Ramsey's first 3 years stats:

Games- 30 / TD's-33 / Int's- 28 / Rating-74

*** Receivers overs 3 years - Coles (toe), Gardner (50/50), Jacobs, McCants (sometimes), Thrash (castoff from the Eagles), Kevin Lockett, Jacquez Green, Chris Doering and Derrius Thompson,etc.......

*** Offensive line play in 2002 & 2003 very poor.

*** Coaching over his 3 years??????

I think Gibbs has handled PRam as bad as Spurrier.

I understand the excitment about Brees. However, if we aren't able to land Brees and end up going with Ramsey we may have found a diamond in the rough. He has better physical skills than Brees - one of the 3-5 best arms in the league. I'm sure the pounding he took his 1st 2yrs under Spurrier along with no running game and a terrible o-line has affected his confidence. He did start coming around last year when he took over for Brunnell in the 10th week (look at the Giants game last yr).

FYI -
Troy Aikman (1st 3 years)
Games / TD's / Int's / Rating / Super Bowl wins
38 / 31 / 46 / 70 / 3

John Elway (1st 3 years)
GamesTD's / Int's / Rating / Super bowl wins
42 / 47 / 52 / 67 / 2

You are missing a clue. I am from the DC area and Ramsey is Good actually very good I would rather have a healthy ramsey than Brees.:rolleyes2

I am also from the D.C. area and I am not real sure what games you were watching but everyone has an opinion. I think Ramsey is a career backup QB, just like Fiedler, Feeley, etc. even a lot of the 'Skins fans around here say it. Would I love to have Ramsey in a Fins uniform next year? As a backup to Drew Brees, that would be nice just in case of an injury, but as the starter, NO WAY!

Hey CNC66 thanks for your comment but I'm not sold on Rivers from what I've seen of him he wants serious money but I don't see him as a guy that would put a team on his shoulders and win look at the weapons he has and look at how bad the Redskins have been never mind the coaching up until now.
Isn't Ramsey from Pittsburg?

You highlighted the part that says "“There is going to be wear and tear,â€Â. What you left out was the sentence right before that that something of the effect, that they would be surprised if there wasnt a picture or QB that doesnt have some sort of tear. This doctor wasnt just referring to Brees with that statment. So what exactly is your point with that quote, because I've seen that you have posted that twice now in two different threads. So my question again is, what is your point??????

I think his point is Brees could be damaged goods.
The problem with this guy is that he's looking for a big payday just after his surgery, I don't know if you can take a chance like that and screw the team for years to come.
Even without his injury I'm not sold on Brees, if you saw the game against the Fins last year he didn't look that good.

cnc66 I thought Marty loved Rivers after he coached him at the senior bowl

The reason is the root of all evils in the NFL...money and power....

Money: Brees wants a long term contract that pays him like one of the elite QBs. The key is long-term. He wouldn't take an incentive ladened first year contract with SD, but perhaps that has something to do with the negotiations that have gone sour with them for the last 2 offseasons. He is still probably angry that they didn't sign him LT after last season.

The owner of the Chargers doesn't want to continue paying Rivers starting salary for sitting on the bench (not to mention the $12 mil signing bonus two years ago) any longer. It is financially not the wisest thing to do to trade Rivers and it is doubtful they'd get the value in return that they've invested in him.

Power: AJ Smith (SDs GM) and Marty Schottenhiemer are in a power struggle right now. Marty wants Brees and AJ wants Rivers to be the face of the franchise...afterall, Smith was the one who drafted Rivers even tho he got good value with the trade on draft day that year. But it was Smith who chose Rivers over Manning and over Brees for that matter. Marty, on the other hand is of the opinion that he should dance with the partner what got him there....Brees. It's about who will end up leaving the Chargers sooner...Marty or AJ....
