Merged: SABAN on the FINS coming up on PTI

I think Saban is being sincere.

Ricky looks like he will be a productive back again,he says that he does care about the money or the stats,he has bought into Sabans program and is motivated.I dont think he wants to be traded and he will probably be amenable to negotiate his future contracts to help the Fins to get under the cap.

Any trade for Ricky will probably involve conditional picks and there is always a chance he may not like to go to another team and quit.

Whats not to like ? If Ronnie proves our to be the real deal we will have the best one-two combination in the league for a couple of years.

I concur.

My feeling is that Ricky wants to stay here, where he has a rapport with Saban, and potentially win a championship and retire in 3 years.. One thing Ricky has never been a part of is a winning team.. By winning I mean playoff success..

I am gonna get bashed for this but I don't care.

If Ricky has a lights out year and shows committment and heart and Ronnie has a solid year as well.......

Ronnies contract makes it very easy to trade him specifically with the roster bonuses and incentives.

Just throwing it out there. Ricky wouldn't get us more then a 2nd at best next year while Ronnie could possibly still pull a late first.

With that said, I don't want it to happen. I think Ronnie/Ricky is gonna go down as one of the best duo's in NFL history. They compliment each other so well.

That would be dumb... Ricky wont be in the NFL for more than 3 years.. And if Ronnie can coexist with Ricky until Ricky retires, I dont see the point in trading our future away..

Yes, but that is draft strategy and everyone bluffs to protect their pick. And if he could have got his trade he wouldn't have drafted Ronnie.

Don't merge this, it is more than just about PTI and relates to a specific topic.

Well actually, Saban's bluff wasn't to protect Ronnie, it was to persuade someone to trade up for Braylon. Ronnie was in reality.... Plan B. And apparently Saban told Braylon he was about to chose him, until the time came and no one bit, so then he took his guy, Ronnie.

You can't believe what a Coach tells the media all the time. What would you expect him to say when asked if Ricky would be traded? " Yeah sure, he's for sale... tell your friends."

Ain't gonna happen. We can't get any value in trade near what he's worth to us, at least until next year when's he's shown he is comitted to playing. But no way until then at the very least.

Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, our Warrick Dunn and TJ Duckett.

As much as I like Dunn and Duckett, I think Ricky and Ronnie could be better.

you know when ricky first came back i thought , hell no i dont want that clown on my team then i realized that i have made so many mistakes and i wasn't forgiven so i thought its time to forgive and forget and close the book. when was the last ime that the dolphins had a great rb let alone 2 rbs of this magnitude ? i just hope we never have to go through ten years of no running back on the roster .

That makes no sense. Lets trade the 2nd over all pick for a late first next year.

AY DIOS MIO

Do some of you understand best case worst case scenarios?

Just curious.

Besides let's just look at it hypothetically.

U would technically be getting an extra 1st seeing as your #2 pick in technical terms would in fact be Ricky. If he does in deed is lights out and performs well and does so for 3-5 years how would it really hurt to then trade for a late 1st. You got #2 overall production out of the RB plus you would now be getting a late 1st.

Personally I only said a late 1st because I was looking at a team like Oakland who I pick to be a playoff team. Plus if traded at the end of the season his trade value would drop off if he did split carries.

Either way, as I stated before I don't want it to happen. But I do honestly believe that if a RB is traded it won't be Ricky.

Just an FYI as of now Ricky has done everything right and Ronnie is doing everything wrong in Sabans eyes. Not saying he is seeing Ronnie in that light. It's just that Ricky is showing committment, heart and buying into the system where Ronnie was only concerned about money for a few weeks now.

Either way, this will be the best RB duo is history :D

I agree with you on that except for 1 thing.

It is your opinion not a fact that he will retire in 3 years. For all we know he could play another 7.

Ricky staying in the NFL is no more a guarantee then Ronnie not suffering a season or career ending injury. You just don't know.

But a fact is that Ricky looks good, Ronnie looks good so far, and together if they can co exist will be very effective for many years.

I think it works out because Ronnie doesn't mind splitting carries and Ricky doesn't want the full load.

Just my little old opinion on this. :D IF Ronnie plays to the level he is being paid, and Ricky can regain his previous form, this a very good thing. ;) It all really comes down to the O-line and how well the QB manages the game, as far as the offense side of things. If the system can provide the big plays that Linehan's offenses has in the past, this is really taking shape in a great way. :) If the Defense can play as good (top ten) or better, then history may repeat itself.

I'm not even predicting any miracles this year, heck, I hope we just play better and win more games than last year. But if it all comes together early enough, who knows what will happen. Atlanta went 4-12 in '03, hired a new head coach and went 12-4 in '04. Could be interesting come midseason if the Fins have a winning record at that point, with two stud RB's and so on.
I like what I'm seeing so far and hoping for the best, but keeping my expectations in check for now.

FYI- It was great to meet so many members of this sight at the HOF ceremony. That's one great memory! :D

I really hope we keep Ricky. He wont command the type of money that he truly deserves behind Ronnie and after last year. I think we should ride him and enjoy the success from our RB duo.
