Sam Mills dead at age 45

Panthers | Former LB Sam Mills Passes Away

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports former Carolina Panthers linebacker and position coach Sam Mills has lost his lengthy battle with intestinal cancer Monday, April 18, according to several league sources. He was 45. Mills was initially diagnosed with the illness in August of 2003.

Wow! He definitely seemed to be one of the good guys in football. And this all happened so fast.

My thoughts are prayers are with his family.

Sam was from near where I grew up and actually took the time to speak at one of our award ceremonies when I was in Pop Warner. Always seemed like a first-class person and was a hell of a football player.
