No it isn't. Well maybe college football but not Dolphins football.

Actually having a retractable roof could be a disadvantage to your team. It's hard enough that your players can't hear audibles because visiting teams fans are louder than finfans, adding a roof will make it even worse.

Oh good gravey.

Yes on the retractable roof. Allows Wayne to have more concerts and events.

Whatever it takes to get our own stadium.

I'd take one with a retractable roof and whatever else they want, as long as it has nothing to do with the Marlins.

Mares probably doing backlfips hearing their may not be a baseball diamond on the field anymore.

No, its just annoying and tell me it isn't a dumb thing to say. Its like the person makes it seem like the person who started the thread was planning on actually making the decision for him. He might as well added "hey, lets not even talk about it because its not our decision."

Huh??? Relax dude.

The roof issue doesnt bother me... it has advantages , what I dont want is BASEBALL in a FOOTBALL stadium like many Dolfans have said before.

I hate seeing our team with no logos on the field during the start of football season!! and the diamond gives us no advantage except making us look like like a farm team...BASEBALL has got to go Wayne!!! :fire:

NO roof and no domes. I look at it from this point of view:

Part of what makes football special is that not only do you have to battle the other team, but late in the season, you also have to battle the elements (rain, snow, sleet, etc...). Can't you just hear John Facenda - ".... Do you fear the force of the wind, the slash of the rain? Go face them and fight them, be savage again..."

Football is meant to be an outdoor sport. Basically every other sport has to have near perfect conditions to be played (ie: no other sport can continue in a rainstorm or a blizzard). It's part of what makes football football.

There's no way Wayne will roof Dolphins Stadium. If he does, he's going to lose all credibilty as the Phinz owner IMO. There's no need to roof it, this is a "football stadium". Football was made to be played in the elements, and Miami is a perfect weather city to begin with....

I can't beleive most of the fans here are voting yes. How many of you are season ticket holders, or attend home games on regular basis???...

I grew up with the Phinz, and I've been a season ticket holder for over ten years now. It would be a disgrace to put a roof on Dolphins Stadium. I feel very strong about this subject because I hate it with a passion. Anyone who would want a roof on a football stadium, in the state of Florida, is beyond help IMO....

If Wayne does this, he will lose the Dolphins....

PHINZ RULE!!!

I could care less whether or not the stadium has a retractable roof. I just dont want to see them put turf down. I think artificial turf turns football teams into a bunch of ballerinas and I love to watch teams like St. Louis and Indi, who have great homefield advantage because of their turf, go to the playoffs and get smacked in the leotards because they cant handle the weather!!! SAY NO TO TURF!!!!!!:fire::fire:

Actually I agree with Blitzkrieg! I had season tickets for several years before moving out of state. I LOVED the games in the rain. I was at the game when Marino threw a touchdown to Fryar on 4th down against the Patriots in the first game of the season, It rained for about three quarters and I was soaked from head to toe. What a memory. Cant wait to move back!!!

Are games meant to be played in hurricanes? If so then sure no roof. Games being cancelled by lightning, no longer an issue. If there was ever a rainy game (no hurricane) then it would be open. The only real time it would be closed is during a huge storm (lightning and/or hurricane). In the offseason it would be closed for concerts and such. A retractable roof will not take away the elements.

EDIT: Heck even if the team and the organization really wants to play in such conditions then they would leave it open. Just dont see them thinking its a great thing to play in hurricanes and lightning.

Kizz,

Well, I didn't mean to continue play in a hurricane, lighting storm, or any other condition that may be dangerous. I just don't want the elements to taken completely away (ie: look whaht happens to dome teams outside).

Personally I think it's a bad idea. It takes away one of the advantages the fins have, hot and humid weather that no other team has. With a roof , you lose that.

Yes as I stated if the team and the organization thinks that what we need then then the roof will be open. I agree we shouldnt take away the heat, hummidity, the rain, or the wind. I just dont think that people should jump to conclusions about when or when it wont be closed. We have a smart owner and a smart coach, they will leave it open unless its under extreme conditions and closed during the offseason.

since the roof is retractable, what's the problem? open it up only till the field area and let the fans covered..or close it only at rainy days..
