Rutgers coach Greg Schiano is under consideration for Bucs job. Mike Sherman had 2nd interview. Rob Chudzinski might as well

I have been following the Buccaneers coaching search closely because their hire affects what Miami does at both the offensive coordinator position and defensive coordinator position. If they hire Mike Zimmer(who doesn't appear to be a finalist) then that could mean Coyle would remain in Cincinnati and be elevated as their defensive coordinator. If they hire Mike Sherman(who many consider the strong favorite), then Miami has to look elswhere for an OC(probably Bennett or McAdoo from Green Bay).

With Greg Schiano now in the mix, and reportedly a strong buzz on Tampa Bay radio about his connection to the Buccaneers, what looked like Sherman not being an option for Miami has changed. I am rooting hard for Schiano to get the Buccaneers job so we can land Sherman as OC. The interest between the Buccaneers and Schiano has to be serious, why else would he risk recruiting and his job at Rutgers if something serious wasn't happening?

Filed to ESPN: Tampa Bay plans to hire Rutgers coach Greg Schiano as the next Buccaneers head coach. Two sides trying to finalize contract.

So Schefter is reporting that Schiano and the Buccaneers are trying to wrap up a contract. As long as Greg doesn't "Chip" the Buccaneers it looks like Sherman could be headed to Miami. Though expect a strong push from the Browns.

The Bucs search is an interesting one. The fans are clamoring for Zimmer or Chud, but the Glazers and Dominik are looking for any reason not to hire either.

I don't know about Chud, but I've heard rumors that our organization is not the only one to be turned off by Zimmer in an interview.

And just to stray off topic, I think this offseason you are really seeing how important the interview process is. Look out at Oakland, Winston Moss was all but promised the head coaching job. He went in for an interview and bombed it to the point where Chris Davis didn't feel comfortable giving McKenzie the go-ahead to hire him. Dennis Allen had a great interview. Chuck Pagano was hired almost right after his interview with the Colts. It has been documented that Philbin blew away Ross, Peterson, and Ireland in his initial interview. Hell even with our Fisher interest, I felt only reason Philbin wouldn't get a job somewhere was his son's death.

Rex Ryan was a notoriously bad interview that turned owners and GMs off. The Jets made the hire to take a risk. It has made some dividends, but you do see some of the negatives with someone with that type of personality as your head coach.

Same can be said with the interviews with prospects. Just to use Ryan Mallett as an example (since the board is in love with him still) he came off VERY poorly in interviews with team officials and that is one of the reasons he fell (along with supposed drug and attitude issues)

lol, was just about to add that Schefter Twitter Nub, it does look like it's gonna be a done deal unless he does an about face like Chip Kelly did...I think that's makes it a done deal for Mike Sherman coming here as OC don't you? Or do you think nothing is a done deal until it's official?

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
And former Packers HC Mike Sherman is in Miami today to see if the two sides can work out a deal for him to become Dolphins OC.

Fantastic news!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssss!!!!!!! Thanks Greg for all you did at Rutgers and for taking the bucs job (eeeew) hello Sherman!! Maybe we can get some great stability around here! Excited I am very!

I love Sherman, but I'm afraid he will be here 2 years max!

GREAT NEWS!!! I am liking what i'm hearing. Funny, I would have never wanted Sherman as a HC, heard too many negatives about him as a HC, but he's certainly a wonderful coordinator and is the perfect fit for installing the offense that Joe is going to install here. Nubs, do you think RG III can come here and have the same kind of success in the WCO like McNabb did in Philly? I'm not saying we SHOULD move up for him or that I want him, just a curiousity if that's what we end up doing. At this point I don't know what the hell I want us to do at QB right now. Trade up for RG III, get Flynn, get Manning, lol... Go in another direction, I don't know, I just want us to get someone and finally start winning games, division championships, and so on...

Sucks for Rutgers fans. Schiano was putting together a decent recruiting class, now it's going to fall apart one week before signing day. I guess Rutgers fans can put all of their "axes" away and stop "chopping wood".

At any rate, welcome Mike Sherman. And perhaps Ryan Tennehill...

I love Sherman, but I'm afraid he will be here 2 years max!

That's why it would be important for Philbin to have someone on the offensive coaching staff to groom behind him and have that person ready to be the OC if and when Sherman moves on.
