MERGED: Schiano & Bucs near deal/Sherman in Miami this morning

The Glazers, right or wrong, are famous for making you think they're going in one direction and going the other. All the names that were out there, Phillips, Grey, Sherman, all were known, then Chip Kelly is all of a sudden the name when he was never mentioned, then that falls apart and they're back to Sherman and Chud, and then Schiano falls..I never pay attention to the NAMES that are out when associated with the Bucs cause it usually means their is someone else in the works.

I think he will be a better NFL than college coach...that record at Rutgers doesn't do justice of how good of a coaching job he did with that program.was reported to also be a finalist for the rams job.Nice hire in my opinion

With Sherman, get the Ryan Tannehill talk going.

Who is going to hire Mike Sherman as a HC at 59 years old? Get him signed up and he will be as long as Philbin.

Why are you always bringing up age as a problem look at the steelers and their OC and DC how old are they and who are the coaches in the SB what 35 year olds.
There are no experienced HC coaches available

SI is now reporting that Schiano has accepted the Bucs job.

I think Sherman is a big pickup, he can help install our new Offense with many hiccups.

Yep, rotoworld confirmed this too. That's perfect for us. Sherman obviously knew this, hence why he's talking to us today. I am actually getting excited if we can get Sherman as OC with Philbin as HC, all we need is solid DC and we are sitting pretty good with our main coaching staff and can concentrate on free agency and the draft. Wow! Could be the start of something special in South Florida!

Mmmm...I don't wanna get to excited, but this is the best I have felt about the fins since the early 2000s when we had that amazing defense and ugh Ricky Williams.this seems like somethin special is goin on though.I think we are goin to come out the gates flying.

What kind of offense does Sherman run?

Everyone is getting so geeked up about Mike Sherman, but does he even run the kind of exciting offense we all want? Does anyone have any data on the offensive production of his Packer teams? And the style of offense?

He only helped set a billion offensive records while coaching GB.

It's official.

Now official: After finalizing a five-year deal, the Buccaneers officially have hired Greg Schiano as their next head coach.

Sherman is a WCO guy who got his NFL start under Mike Holmgren. He hired Philbin in Green Bay. Very good offensive mind, mediocre head coach, lousy GM.

Funny enough, one of the names on Rutgers' short list to replace Schiano is our very own Darren Rizzi

He was top 10 in ppg in 2002. 2003-2004 he was top 5 with the Packers. His ranking slipped in 2005 when Green got hurt and Favre played horribly.

Well it will be interesting to see how his offense works without a guy that doesn't improvise as much/treat the NFL like backyard football.

Favre is one of my favorites all time but he's not the brightest.. and he sure was lucky MANY times. Some of those throws he made were god throws and he probably still can't figure out how they ended up at his receiver's hands.

If you want to look at the type of offense Sherman ran, I guess you can look at Holgren's offense with Seattle when they were contending for a Super Bowl. Sherman ran a lot of no huddle/up tempo offenses in Texas A&M. And he had a fast/mobile QB in Tannehill.
