MERGED: Schiano & Bucs near deal/Sherman in Miami this morning

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssss!!!!!!! Thanks Greg for all you did at Rutgers and for taking the bucs job (eeeew) hello Sherman!! Maybe we can get some great stability around here! Excited I am very!
I'm worried because Sherman is just looking for a transitional job, somewhere he can probe his worth and return as NFL head coach.
I would hire him as he can ease Philbin's rookie season as HC, but it would be important to place someone very close to him in order to prepare an eventual substitute that might follow the process without restarts.

I have no problem with that. If he gets hired away, it's likely due to success in the position.

Sherman and Philbin are close friends so if he has other motives by taking the position he won't leave him hanging.

We absolutely need a veteran OC with a successfull playcalling pedigree. Mike Sherman is precisely what we need regardless of if it is only a temporary job.
Philbin may be a great football mind and a good leader but he has no playcalling experience at the NFL level.

If Sherman leaves in two years that is fine. At that point things will hopefully be more stable with our staff and our roster.

Hiring Sherman is critical to our future success. If nothing else then it takes pressure off of Philbin to grow into the role of HC.

My worries are based on the fact that this could be a one year wonder.
I mean Sherman looks like the key piece to build a strong offense, but what if he leaves on January 2013? :boohoo:

They are friends but both understand than Sherman wants to become head coach again.
Thus, if that window is open on 2013 he'll take it, no mattering if Philbin is hanging or not.

Shermann in Miami "to see if they can come to agreement"? Anyone think they couldn't? lol

He will sign, too many signs that he won't...

1.Trusted friend of Coach Philbin.

2. Ross is able and very willing to give him a nice contract.

3. Other then QB (a position also to be addressed), he will have some great toys to play with on offense in Miami.

Mostly but then you have the Phins signing Daboll (who I liked but didn't do **** in Cleveland before the Phins)
I think I'm misunderstanding you, Are you implying Brian Daboll will accept to be assistant coach of OC Sherman? That would be nice as I saw good things on Daboll's system and would show a serious commitment from him.

I think that had more to do with the fact that nobody wanted to coach with a dead man walking.

If Sherman is hired away that will be fantastic, because that will mean that our offense improved greatly in 2012-3. By then the foundation will be set and Philbin can bring a young guy.

Then Miami will find someone else that can call a game as close to waht Sherman will.

The key part of all this is to get an experienced guy to set up Miami's new Offense for the 1st few years, with a quality QB that can carry it out, after both things are in place, it will not matter how many O-coordinator come and go, the offense will run automatically.

Look at the Patriots for example, OC come and go, offense still produces. Brady plays or is out, Offense still produces.
