i hope feeley gets one series so he can snap his leg on the way out the door.
what's wrong with you wishing injury on your own player. That's classless unless it's wishing injury on a rival player. Ask BBsuck.

Damn, I hate it when you make me agree with Justa!

My thought is that Pittsburgh has a better pass rush than JAX, that's why JAX went and got help at the DE position, but overall, the front 7 of JAX seems better than Pitts' front 7.

I don't know about that, the Steelers have a better LB core, although Porter will not play because he is hurt. But I think I would have to go with Pitt's front 7.

Sometimes the truth hurts..
I love agressive hard nosed old school football and injuries are part of the game..I don't like a dirty hit but I do like A Dick Butkis or Jack lambert type player that doesn't apologize for his intensity or passion and just doesn't like the opposition on game day..sort of like our game agains't the Jags when thier saftey got all wozzy for TRYING to knock the snot out of Chambers..that's what I like..Hard hitting. I had to laugh at him for trying to deliver the wood and got delivered by himself..Just play the game the way it's supposed to be played and if an injury happens well it happens, this ain't table tennis.

we all love hard hits without anyone getting injured. Just like when someone knocked Brady's helmet off. Your wishing for Willis to snap a knee was going overboard.

That was in the SMACK forum I am trying to keep it civil with you..come on at least I don't go hide on you and pretend..I like what I like. I don't like DIRTY football but I love hard hitting football, plain and simple.

Speaking of Gus beaing a "journey man qb", was Rich Gannon not considered a "Journey man QB" until he got with Oakland and started kicking a$$?

Thats a problem that so many people fall in to....they try to use an exception to a rule to prove their point. "Gannon turned his career around, why cant Gus.....Brady was a 5th round QB....why waste a 1st round pick on a QB, The Ravens won a SB with a below avg QB and conservative offense, why can't the Phins with Fiedler?" People focus on the rare occurance that someone or some team beat the odds, and ignore the hundreds of occurances in which others did not. Yes, it is possible that Gus could become the league MVP. But, tell me....just how many journeymen QBs other than Gannon have done that, and how many have failed to improve at all? Its like counting on a lottery ticket to provide for your future. You MIGHT get lucky.....but the odds are really stacked high against it.

No it wasn't. It was in the beast of the east. I don't pretend I don't want people to get hurt because I don't I'd rather lose to a team w/ it's players intact and healthy rather than win by default.

First off I'm a Feeley supporter and I'm a little disappointed that the QB competition between Gus AJ wasn't as fair as it was perceived to be but I'm gonna put my faith in Saban and trust that he knows best!! And I will continue to support the Dolphins regardless of Gus starting!

Judging by how the Steelers D turned the heat on McNabb last night I'm very interested to see how Gus handles that kind of pressure. Our offensive weapons of Chambers, Booker, Boston, McMichael, Brown & Williams are way better (on paper at least) that what McNabb had to work with in Westbrook, Lewis,.... Though Philly does have a much better OL.

I wasn't impressed with what Gus brought to the table against the Jags D! He only got any kind of offense going thanks to those big runs by RW! The Pitt D is a notch above the Jags D so he better bring his 'A' game!

And I really hope that Feeley gets at least 1 series with the starting offensive unit! Should be an interesting game.

GO 'FINS!!!
I wish we could trade fans to other teams, I'd propose we trade you. Feeley didn't get a fair shot at the job:cry: ? He's going to get everything he earns and deserves, which is a clipboard and ball cap!

Well I really wasn't shooting to make this an 'AJ vs Gus' debate but I guess I was asking for it with that one statement!

And to address your last point... No I don't think the competition was completely fair! In the 1st game no OL schemes were put in place to account for the Bears blitz packages. But even still AJ looked decent with the starters and could've made a dent had... i) DT not dropped that pass and ii) He hadn't taken that nasty hit from Urlacher. Gus comes in and gets a couple of lucky breaks (i.e. long pass to CC) and throws a fluke TD to Gilmore.

Jags game... Gus comes in... RW runs wild and moves the chains downfield to get a FG. Also blitz packages are picked up this game!! AJ comes in and plays with the 2nd stringers... Gordon fumbles, Minor drops an easy pass... AJ gets frustrated with the 2nd stringers (whom he barely practices with) and tries to force a pass to Newson who makes little to no effort to go for the ball... End result a pick! I can understand Feeley's frustration here as it almost like he's being set up to fail!

So "No" I don't think the competition was nothing but fair! But I also believe that Saban may have his reasons for letting things evolve as they have and I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I hope Gus rises to the occasion and sets opposing defenses on fire.... I really do!!

I have to agree, Feeley completed 60% of his passes (plus the big dropped one) with 0 protection against the Bears who were in his face every play thanks to the non existent O-line. I am not saying Feeley stood out, but this was his job until someone beat him out of it. I dont think Gus has beat him out of it. I think Saban wanted Gus all along which is fine, but call it what it is.

My response to that is b!te me!!:fire: How about actually debating some of the points I made to support my argument rather than flat out saying Feeley sucks and the competition was fair!! I know there're some posters here that share my sentiments.

Add to that..... I'm a die-hard 'Fin fan and yes I support Feeley but I also cheer for the Dolphins and when that football gets snapped if Gus is under center, I will support him 100%!

I totally understand your point and agree with it. My point was NOT to say that Gus was going to be another Gannon, as you pointed out, the odds are that he won't and I don't expect it. Just that he "could" be and I hope he is... But honestly, I'm not even a Gus "Fan" ...

Yet IF, he does turn out to be one of those exceptions, we'll certainly know by the end of the year... In which case we should still probably draft a young QB in the first round because it will take him at least a year of sitting on the bench to be ready anyway. And if Gus is not another "Gannon" (the more likely scenario) then we need to go after a young QB with experience because we will need him to start right away.

OK the beast whatever are you done now (I want Buffalo to be 100% healthy also when we play) just not afterwards..no one is backing you up stop trying to get Miami fans against Miami fans..back to the subject of our game against the steelers, it should be the best test yet to see where our team stands thier D was the best last year and looked like they still are last night.. :shakeno:

First of all, Feeley has not been able to beat out backup quarterbacks in each of his two camps here (yes, I consider Fiedler a backup). I think Nick has been more than fair in giving AJ a chance to win the job.

Secondly, all our offensive weapons you mentioned rely on the 2 Philly weapons you mentioned to even touch the ball... Chambers can run a perfect route, but if our subpar qb is buried due to the subpar protection of our line, it doesn't matter.
I agree that Gus isn't overly impressive, but the team seems to play better with/for him, and I'm done with trying to force AJ into a role he's not qualified for. We spent years doing it with Jay; time to cut bait.
