99.6% completion percentage is a little ridiculous. I agree with the idea to either get rid of it or move it back to a point where it's good only about 90-95% of the time. This is akin to the PGA lengthening holes to keep up with technology, it may not keep with "tradition" but nobody wants to see scores of -30 or -50.

Four of the five failed extra-point tries were blocked.
One proposal being floated as a replacement would be to give seven points for a touchdown with the option to run what is now a two-point conversion play for an eighth point.
"There's one proposal in particular that I've heard about," Goodell said. "It's automatic that you get seven points when you score a touchdown, but you could potentially go for an eighth point, either by running or passing the ball, so if you fail, you go back to six."
Goodell did not say when such a change might take place.

I actually think the goal post should be narrowed a bit to make all kicks harder. Something similar to the width in the Arena League...

If you want to add excitement to the extra point, forget the concept of hash marks and centering the ball. Go back to the way they do it in rugby. In rugby the try must be taken from the point in the end zone where the ball has been "touched down". If someone scores on the sideline, make the team snap the ball for the extra point on the sideline. Adding these odd angles to the snap like they used to have in football back in the 1920s and 1930s would add excitement to the play.

This needs to be done for FGs anyway. FGs are being hit at a record percentage over the last few years. Those need to be more difficult as well. The extra point should be fairly automatic, but not completely eliminated. Just narrow the goal posts. Kickers are too accurate.

I'm actually an advocate of two hand touch for the QB in the pocket, due to the stupid roughing rules. If you are going to penalize defensive players for trying to make plays on the quarterback with some ridiculous strike zone, just bite the bullet and make it two hand tag.
Less roughing penalties, easier for defensive players to get sacks (finally, a rule in favor of the defense) and fewer QB injuries. Everyone wins. Except football fans. But guess what, thanks to lawsuits and liability concerns, old-school football fans are never going to win.

There would be so many quick calls that I couldn't watch the sport anymore.
