Merged:Texans exercises Carr's contract option

There is a good possibility now that Reggie Bush will be playing in our division.

The Texans and the Jets could very possibly trade picks. Jets get Bush and Texans get D'Brick. Both teams getting the players they really need.

Houston just signed Davis to a big contract and hes been pretty productive over there. They need a dominate OL to protect Carr.

As for the Jets, one of the biggest reasons they have been on the downslide is because of Curtis Martin getting older. He isnt what he used to be and if the Jets want to breathe new life into their team they need someone who can step in for Martin, and thats Reggie Bush. He will also take some pressure off Mr. Glass.

Nice thought. who better for a young guy to learn from also.

Why does that mean no way? As I understood it, signing this option was pretty much gonna happen either way.

They were going to deo this even if they plan on trading him, was what I thought.

me too. The Texans aren't going to burn any bridges by saying what they are planning. I think ideally they want to trade out and get Young. But we'll see.

That takes care of several rumors then...........

Ricky + #1 pick for Carr
Ricky + #3 pick for Carr
Ricky straight up for Carr
#1 pick for Carr

Put those rumors to rest.

The Texans can still trade out of the first spot and draft Young then trade Carr for another first rd giving them three or four first rd picks depending on what they get out of trading down!!To me that would be the best thing they could do. Carr is a good QB, but he's not great, and if you can still get a first rd pick for him you trade him.

Heh and where are all the folks that jumped down my throat when I kept saying there wasn't a chance in hell they would get rid of him. It just didn't make sense with all the holes that team has to get rid of a QB with some promise still and a high flying OC as his HC who can install an excellent line and running game.

The Texans exercised QB David Carr's contract option, keeping him with the team through 2008.
The option is worth $8 million. It is highly unlikely that the Texans will consider drafting Vince Young now, unless they tried to trade Carr. Coach Gary Kubiak believes Houston can win with Carr and we agree. Reggie Bush will likely be a Texan unless Houston trades the pick. Feb. 9 - 10:41 pm et

They just exercised the option it doesn't mean they won't trade him it just means that if he goes he ain't leavin for free.

Even though trading out of the #1 slot would make the most sense since of their mutiple needs there's ZERO percent chance of that happening. It would be a public relations suicide and they would alienate their fanbase if they didn't stay put and pick one of the top 3 (more than likely Regie Bush) players.
