Merged: The Official Ryan Grice-Mullen Thread

Ricky Williams is one of the best running backs to play the game and in Canada he did nothing. I guess the means Ricky is Training Camp fodder as well.

If RGM is as good as you think he is he would've torn the cfl up, but he didn't. We've got a much bigger field up here and he should've been lighting it up but his k and p returns were average at best. He's going to have to be much better to be a returner down there with the smaller field. Yes he had 1 long return for a td and a couple more 50 or so yards but he was no stud. He wasn't quick enough nor does he see the field well enough to make an impact in the nfl as a return man.

To compare rickys attempt to play in the cfl to rgm's is ludicrous. Two totally different situations. RGM was a wr and k-returner trying his best to impress, both to help his team here win and also to catch the eye of the nfl. Somehow he impressed the Fins, I guess they only saw the td return and signed him. As for Ricky he was here to collect a pay cheque and wasn't gonna kill himself and he didn't. He did however sustain an injury after a few games, a broken arm I think, and that was it.

You misunderstood my comment. My point was Ricky went to Canada and did not do much, just cause RGM did not tear up the CFL does not mean he cannot have success in the NFL. The kid had an amazing college career and was predicted to be a late round pick, my opinion is he has a chance to make this team.

I like this kid alot i really hope he makes the team.. He is a playmaker for sure.......

All I'm sayin' is I hope the kid works out but I ain't buying a RGM jersey just yet. I have seen too many flashes in the pan to get overly excited about anyone in rookie minicamp.

We don't have room for him. His roles are filled by Bess.. who RGM is a lite version of

Bess is primarily a slot receiver. RGM is more a flanker (Z) position WR. Ryan is faster, Davone shiftier. They were both on the field at the same time in Hawaii, that wouldn't have happened if RGM = DB.

That is not true. Even Coach Sparano has said they are different players. RGM might look like Bess, catch like Bess and run routes like Bess, but hey are two totally different players. In college he was Hawaii's deep threat, he never worked the middle of the field and he made people miss tackles. The kid has yac ability, you can credit that to him being a running back in high school. The biggest thing that seperates these two is RGM speed and ability to break ankles. Go watch some video of both and you will immediately notice how different these two are.

RGM ran a 4.46 at the combine, big diference from Bess (4.64?). RGM ran a 4.36 at his Pro Day (Bess did a 4.60).

This is very interesting. Because looking at the youtube clip he seems to play very fast. I love his stutter step and just how aggressively he goes for YAC. Is it me or does he seem to be much faster than Bess? A taller, faster version of Davone Bess would be a REALLY GOOD THING. Sorry for the caps but you have to admit the idea of a young player with Davone Bess' skills with an inch more of height and a 4.36 40 time is pretty darn exciting.

Q: Mike, the Dolphins could use a punt returner and a nice established veteran wideout like Patrick Crayton. The Cowboys are looking to trade him after they got Dez Bryant. He is a Parcells find so for a 7th could we get him. Mike, Miami Beach.

A: Good name, but I think the Dolphins are set at receiver for now. They’re going to have a hard time finding a spot for the highly intriguing Ryan Grice-Mullen as it is, and RGM can return punts and kickoffs with anybody.

Can someone explain to me why reporters feel like Turner a guy who could not get playing time on team craving for WR help has a better shot at the 5th WR spot than RGM.

RGM doesn't have some of Bess' skills. Bess is a very talented route runner and catches the ball well. RGM is faster.

I don't know why we wouldn't bring in Crayton (who has demonstrated he CAN play in the NFL) instead of receivers who have not yet shown they can play at the NFL level.

Well I have had this running conversation for weeks with this guy and he is sold on RGM even though he was average at best with all the advantages of the CFL as I listed for him - his argument about RW would hold some water had the Argos given the rock to RW which they did seldom as he was 2nd option in the pass happy CFL..., not to forget to mention a freak injury or two one I believe he slipped in the locker room...

Rev I saw Ricky's Argo games and he just looked uncomfortable playing out there. He kept trying to be teams by running outside to no avail and was stuffed trying to run in between the tackles. I don't know what it was, but Ricky looked very uncomfortable running in the CFL and I remember another CFL running back making fun of him and telling him that this was not the CFL and that the CFL had better competition. I believe that running back was the CFL rushing leader that year.

Hmm. Probably because he was a 2nd round selection by this front office who arguably has the most potential over any of our other receivers not named Brandon Marshall. He didn't look bad in preseason last year--he was a great big target and caught Henne's passes.

Based on physical ability, I'd say Turner is still very much in the mix.
