Merged: Things are heating up....smells like trade cooking./Skins trade?

Trading Our #2 For Redskins 9 And 25 Will Not Happen Per Saban. Redskins Will Have To Add Another Pick To Equal The 2600 Points On Sabans Chart.
Minnesotas 7 +18 Equals 2600, So 9 And 25 Do Not.
I Dont Think Anything Will Happen Today Or Until Sf Confirms Who They Are Taking. Only Then Can Miami Play Their Position. Right Now They Dont Know What Thier Position Is.
They May Already Have An Agreement With Minnesota Pending Sf Selecting Smith Tommorrow.

First..per Saban? And I wouldn't believe what any coach or GM would say before the draft....last night Peterson said the deal was going nowhere for Surtain...early this morning...I hear on Sporting news radio XM...from a fan with connections, that the deal is a done item...and more....so trust whats being said...not me...too much smoke.

I don't buy it. If the Redskins were looking to trade up then spending all those pics for the #25 was foolish as those picks they paid for that woulda been more valuable.

They could have easily moved up from #9 to #2 with their 2nd, 4th this year a 1st next year I would think. They overpaid for #25 large.

Two first round picks plus a player...is more than those picks...Gibbs needs to change things around now....not three years from now.

Let me first say, as much as I am not enamored with Matt Jones, he could be good value at #25 OR ALTERNATIVELY would make amazing trade bait with Philly, who is pretty high on him. #9 is almost assuredly high enough to pick up a Top 3RB.

I'd hope the Skins call, just to give Minnesota that deep, bone-chilling fear that Mike Williams and Braylon will be gone. Their whole "we're content with #7" is a ruse, IMO. They need a WR, and there's a pretty severe dropoff. Clayton is a quality WR, but at 5'10" he isn't filling Moss's shoes. Well, he could probably fit his whole body into one of Moss's shoes.

Give me #9 this year, #25 this year, a #2 next year, and #1 and #2 in 2007 (those are likely to be top-3 picks, the way their salary cap is headed).

I'll value the #1 and #2 in 2007 as #3 and #4 this year, and the #2 next year as a #3 this year.

1350 + 720 + ~200 + ~200 + ~100 = 2570. Our pick is worth 2600, according to the chart.

That's a lot, but it's the value. Who knows, the Skins aren't exactly "predictable."

Then I'd considering trading our second this year for a #1 next year, and walk into the next two years with 4 picks in the first round. Guess it depends who is available at #25. Matt Jones?

wishful thinking

All the better. That means they can send us Ramsey instead of Gardner. That would really psyche me up. No QB's talent has been criminally wasted like Ramsey's has been by Spurrier and Gibbs.

Exactly my thinking. I wanted to get Ramsey from the Skins last year. And you are right about Ramsey's talents being wasted. All he needs is the right situation (Miami?) and he will blow up.

My only worry is that perhaps Ramsey learned how to suck from the time he and Rob Johnson were on the team together. Ever since then, it does seem like he holds the ball longer and takes more sacks.

It was from Sal Paulantonio and it was definitive.

Only taxes and death are definitive....everything else is negotiable. Unless Saban say's so...I have a hard time believing anything the hacks have to say.

Yeah, Rob Johnson could probably teach Dan Marino how to suck :roflmao:
Saban and Linehan will wash away all of Johnson's suckiness.

If the deal comes to pass with the redskins...we won't need a running back...we'll be getting Larry Johnson from the Chiefs...along with their 15th pick.
What???? I don't get what you are saying?

man, if the Niners DON'T take Smith.....Sal's credibility goes down the crapper

Playing the odds...I would say it 90/10 that they sign Smith...but as Yogi would say...it ain't over till it's over. Even if they can't workout a contract...I still see them picking him...at worst you either make him sweat..or trade him later.

Edwards is the key player that teams want to trade for.

You're suggesting the wrong party is going to sweat. The Niners fans who show up to the games will be in paper bags as of week one if he isn't signed. It would just be another year wasted.
