Merged:When and HOW did you become a FinFan?

When I was a baby, and Csonka stuck a Miami Dolphins sticker on my blanket in '73. I still have it too.

I'm originally from Pennsylvania and was a big Steeler fan up until '84. I was 9 at the time when Marino was in his 2nd year out of Pitt and took Miami to the SB. I haven't looked back since.

From Madden 2003, because I live in Aus and don't hear much about football.

And once I got interested in Madden '03 I then started watching the games on our expensive cable. The first 2 games I saw was the Phins vs Cowboys when Tim Hasslebeck came in and lit us up in the 1st quarter and Arrington was mic'd up. Then I saw the thanksgiving day game against the Cowboys when I couldn't get to sleep and it came on at 3 o'clock in the morning and Ricky had some great runs in both games, him, Surtain and Thomas were my favourtie players and the Phins were my favourite team from then on.

LOL!!!

This is true.

I am pretty sure I started liking the Phins because I enjoyed the new Flipper show that was on with Jessica Alba. Yes guys, she did get her start before Idol hands and Dark Angel :D

Ever since then I have never looked back on my love for the Phins and Miss Alba

I've been lurking around these boards for a very longtime. For some reason this thread got to me and I decided to join the madness.

I became a Dolphins fan because thats how I was raised. The Dolphins is all I've known. Some of my earliest memories are from the OB watching Dolphin games with my old man. If my dad bought me something football related, it would be Dolphin related...Every Sunday was either at the stadium or at home watching the Dolphins.

All in all my Dad is a Dolphins fan, my brother is a Dolphins fan, my uncles and cousins are Dolphins fans, my kids will be Dolphins fans, and my grandkids too.

Go Dolphins

weird when i was like 7 i liked green and orange, then went on to like marino, the've been my team ever since.

I was born. I was sat down ever sunday to watch the fins. I as told they would show me the way. This was life.

dad was born and raised in miami in the 60/70s... i was born in the year of the marino and naturally i became a diehard fan!!!

Almost the same, except I'm not from PA, I am from Panama, living in Miami at the time. But I loved all Pittsburg teams growing up, including the Panthers. When Dan Marino came to the Phins, I followed him and was first only a Marino fan as always, but soon got hooked on the Phins.

After reading the "what college team do you root for?" thread I realized that there is one more question that I think would be very interesting to know.... How did you become a phin fan? I mean, we probably have all states and even some countries represented on this board as well as a wide range of ages, so... how did you get to love the dolphins so much?

I arrived in the US in September 1970 at the age of 8 from Jamaica. All I can remember is that me and my younger brother were watching the Dolphins play the Redskins in the 1972 Super Bowl. I wanted the Dolphins to win because I loved the color of their uniforms. He went for the Redskins. I have been a Dolphin fan since that game and he has been a Redskin fan. After many years of electric football games and agonies watching the Dolphins in defeat, along with the great Marino years I am still a Dolphin fan.

One memory I will never forget is when as a teenager I had a car wash job. The Dolphins were playing the Steelers in the playoffs. I told my boss I wouldn't be able to work on Saturday. He told me if I didn't show up, I need not come back. I stayed home and watched the Steelers kick the Dolphins arse and got fired. All because of my love for Fins Football.

supported the Phins since the superbowl loss to the redskins. It was the first live superbowl shown in the UK. Lucky enough to see all of dans career , but unlucky not to be able to see the phins play in the states. Highlight was watching them play in England at wembley in the World bowl against the 49ers. Once had a house named "Offerdahl".

second grade. in the lunch line in school, my friend asked who i thought was gonna win the SB. i asked who was playing and he said the dolphins and redskins. i said hmmm, dolphins. well what do you know, they won 14-7...

been a fan ever since.

I noticed several of us became Dolphins fan round that memorable 72 SUPER BOWL. We're so lucky. We picked the right time to be Dolphins fans.

Treasure the moment. Don't know when it will happen again. Hopefully in our lifetime!

1974. Moved to Miami from northern NJ. Had been the kind of Jet fan who slipped a five to the ticket-taker at a sold-out Shea Stadium just to get in the door and stand in the aisles yelling myself hoarse. Couldn't afford the flights back to NY to see home games, so considered myself traded to Miami and life went on. Fins were easy to root for, even with Zonk and Kiick and Warfield leaving for the USFL, and Robbie was easy to despise as a cheap SOB. It's been a long, strange trip since then, but I can't think of a more fun team to have rooted for all these years.
